He mentions a couple of people have the power in the B10. I wonder who they are, and why are they against expansion?

Think maybe the Big 10 is holding out until Notre Dame wants to be in a conference?

Pitt would be a nice choice and PSU could renew that rivalry.

Big 10 Commish says No Expansion is planned.

    Big 10 Commish on Expansion

Curious as to how our B10 posters feel about expansion and is there any ground swell for this amongst the avg B10 fan?

I'm all for expansion, given a proper fit...

But there are so many more reasons and ramifications to being in a conference than your football schedule.

The fit has to be made in terms of academics, geography, mission, etc., etc.

Just picking a school 'cause you admire their football program and they are geographically close doesn't cut it.

Hell, to my skewered way of thinking, Miami of Ohio would be a better fit than Pitt or W. Va.

Well said Stu....I have heard others discuss it and would expect that the PSU admin will tell you that the greatest benefit they realized by joining the Big 10 was academic not athletic....the collaboration of conference research and other academic resources was a material factor in their decision making.

The only east coast school that would seem to be any kind of a fit and bring material benefits to the conference would seem to be Rutgers. Pitt, Syracuse offer nothing really other than JoePa wants somebody from the east , Wva provides no material new markets to be frank. The only logical possibilities that I see that would fit the criteria Stu has laid out and be a market extension would be Mizzou, possibly Kansas....but I don't see any compelling reason to add another at this point. Playoff, smayoff.....we have one every year in November and have for over 100 years.....fook em.

Good to read the thoughts of B10 fans, do you guys think your views are pretty typical of B10 fans?

    Terry, I would say yes...

Not at all opposed to the right fit, but again...why rush in to a bad marriage just to balance out your football schedule?

Seems like Missouri has been a team that always comes up with regards to the fit with the B10. I've read a number of senarios where there is conference realignment and Missouri leaves the B12 for the B10.

Missouri makes a lot of geographic sense and they already have a natural rival in the Big10 (Illinois).

Who would assume their spot in the Big12 though?

Missouri, to me, even though they fit into the Big10 are really more of a Big12 school... And we couldn't NOT have a Missouri-Kansas matchup each year.

Some have speculated that Arakansas would jump at the chance to play in the B12, but I sort of doubt it.

Take Iowa State. Add Colorado St., or add Arkansas.
