Went to a music cafe with my wife and son last night...a place when at age 15 five years ago my son broke himself in playing his guitar and singing in front of an audience. My wife and I went there thinking he would just blow these guys away because we thought....and it was very apparent ultimately....that my son's talent and experience would far surpass what we would see in the ole coffee shop/music cafe. Well...he did absolutely shine and he looked and sounded every bit the professional he is but the real blockbuster of the night is that he was challenged to do so by a 14 year old girl with a beautiful golden voice and very decent guitar playing Taylor Swift and Dixie Chicks and then a 16 year old kid who played the most amazing classical guitar I have ever heard. He was phenomenal. By the time my son went up you could see the competitive fire had been lit and he did blow the audience away, including all of the 40 something "musicians" who just didn't hold a candle to these kids. What fun....
that sounds awesome. any chance we can recruit these kids to play the open mic night downstairs? the people there are just awful
Thanks guys. Corey there were a couple of "musicians" in the mix that probably would have fit right in with your downstairs crowd but otherwise the ones that stood out were truly phenomenal and a real pleasant surprise. The surprise factor of seeing unexpected talent is what makes it kinda fun....that plus knowing the reaction my son is bound to bring.
