Major basketball injuries happen Corey but not as often as football. I would venture that NC would have beaten MSU even without Lawson. Not often in the NCAA playoffs do BB stars get knocked out of the playoffs for good but it would be commonplace in a NCAA football playoff....especially one lasting several weeks in a row. The talent thin Utah's of the college football world wouldn't stand a chance in a grueling 16 team playoff. On the other hand rest 5 weeks and then play an unsuspecting SEC also ran missing one it's own top offensive talents and look what happens.
Well now that you mention it the Irish were totally screwed out of the 1948 Nat'l Championship. They gave it to Michigan but we were the better team by far!
That may be true Rick but did you know that Florida has twice won 13 games in a season and Notre Dame never has? Also...both ND and Florida have won 12 games in a season exactly twice. Just thought you might want to know....
Bill the point of my post was that injuries don't always prevent the better team from prevailing. As usual, it went right over your Gator head.
Yeah Gipper but BDR...while not an Irish fan has submitted his typical Gator dig and in kind I responded. Whaddya think?
Hey, you guys ever heard the stories of the '71 & '95 Cornhuskers? '97 Was a pretty interesting story also...it all started with no time remaining in regulation in Columbia, MO......
AJ...Huskerman....Big Red guy etc....etc..... Can you dig that in the long and storied history of the Cornhuskers that those guys have won 13 games only twice? Same as the Gators!!!! Imagine that?  8) Bring the playoffs on MoFos!!!!
Next time try an example from about 1913 that would be appropriate. Sorry this little Gator head is based on the ground and not the distance past. But thanks for your concern.
Yeah but, we always ended all our National Championship seasons undefeated. Six times as a matter of fact. Wake me when you get to 5.
That's what playing the Kansas's and Iowa States of the world will do for ya! The Big 8 is a little tougher now that old SWC has been thrown into the mix eh AJ? Until the win over Florida and pretty much counting that win as the biggest non-con win in NU history the Huskers were being severely questioned as a team that folded when playing the juggernauts of other conferences on the national scene. Every time it seems that they stepped on the field with likes of Miami etc. they were beaten soundly. In fact....one of FSU's signature wins in their rise to fame was a road win over Nebraska in 1980. NU's record vs. FSU and Miami in the years 1980 thru 1993 was a weak 2-9. Big Red fans I am sure appreciate those '94 and '95 teams because season ending wins over Miami and Florida helped put an end to that slide but what a slide it was.
Is it just me or are these BCS conversations really, really old? Then again, what in the world would we be talking about if the BCS didn't exist?
Oh, I know.... We'd be talkin' more about politics, religion, and guns. We're doing a good job of that already. Man, if the BCS is ever dissolved we'll really be slinging mud...
I love striking nerves... Dave, MCG, Stuck in Michigan, etc., Gator, Even if I had the time to waste on cramming HUSKER propaganda down everyones throats here, I wouldn't for the fact(s) that; (1) Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, Missouri, Colorado, Wyoming all had the same opportunity Nebraska had, and didn't (2) The only point of reference for the 1971 Cornhuskers is the 1995 Cornhuskers (3) The only point of reference for the 1995 Cornhuskers is themselves. (4) What is understood, never needs to be discussed. It is what it is, don't be jealous Dave. OOOOHHHHHRRRRAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Aquila wrote: This happens every year because, like you said, what else would we talk about? Guns are taboo because some people go into convulsions at the mere thought of a firearm. Politics are taboo because neither side will listen to the other. I got it... We can talk about reality shows. Sounds like Michael Vick is considering a reality show based upon his every day life once he is released from prison. I say that they film him running from the dogs he was abusing. Now that would be good TV.
I'm just not a reality show fan. I guess I don't understand how someone can have a camera in their face and not be contrived in their words and actions. Put another way, how can you be "spontaneous" if you know you are on camera? To me, that is far from reality. Another reason I don't bother watching reality shows is the topics they choose and the people they cover. It would not surprise me if there is a reality show about Michael Vick or the deposed Illinois governor, etc. Why would I want to waste my time watching that stuff? Evidently, some people do.
This is my problem with most reality TV as well. I do like Survivorman if you want to consider that reality TV. The fact that he films himself is quite impressive. Being a fan of the outdoors, I learn some stuff from the show as well. I don't like the other survival themed show whose name escapes me at the moment. Man vs. wild, that's it. Supposedly that guy was criticized heavily for spending the night in hotels in the places he went and then having his camera crew drive him out to the "wild" during the day. Maybe I'm a sucker but the Survivorman series seems legit. Now, I do like the idea of watching Michael Vick in a pit with some ravenous pitbulls... That could be interesting. Talk about survivorman...
