Maybe you guys in the 24% can explain why these poll numbers come out the way they do. Almost to a partisan man here you guys are all anti-whatever Obama is doing and green light advocates of just about anything cooked up by Republicans....which to me isn't much except to voice opposition and outrage at anything Democratic. "Nearly six in 10 respondents, or 58 percent, think Obama has a clear plan to get the economy back on track, according to a CNN/Opinion Research Corp. poll released Tuesday. That figure is more than double the 24 percent who think that Republicans in Congress have a clear plan on the economy. Nearly three in four polled said the GOP doesn't have a clear economic plan."
I have no doubt of that.....the problem is that it is the wrong track and as has been evidenced over the course of human history, the station at the end of the line is ruin.
Obama actually had policy plans that I endorsed. As I suspected, they are turning out to be ******** campaign promises to push forwarded a more socialist agenda. That's a fact.
Stupid public opinion poll. I guess I'm not one of the 24% 'cause I don't think that Republicans have a clear plan. I think Obama has a clear plan...and it is a recipe for disaster. Now I have a question...explain to me how those Dems who absolutely went ape over Bush's deficits (as did many Republicans) are now so enthused that we are tripling them in his "clear plan?"
And that differs from what the Democrats did for the last 8 years how? This is what's wrong with American politics, on both sides. There is no cohesion to work for a greater good, only bickering to tear down the other "side." Last I checked, we're all Americans and my problem with Obama's policies is that I don't think his policies are very American....
First of all two wrongs don't make a right so the Dems are just as guilty if they disagreed just to disagree. No excuses for those that did that. That said...much of what Bush had going was easy to disagree with according to public opinion.
I'm certain the Republicans do NOT have a plan. Or a clue. If they did then Obama would not be president. Obama has a plan for sure.... socialism, government the size of which has never been comprehended and social re-engineering through punitive taxation. 28 states are currently debating re-affirmation of states rights. How does that jive with the opinion poll?
I believe the Democrat-controlled Congress had lower approval ratings than Bush... More power to 'em! And I mean that in every sense!
"You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You can not multiply wealth by dividing it." Dr. Adrian Rogers, 1931
Then there are those who fall into the category I fall into. Working my ass off for one company for 23 years.....making a great living and being taxed to death on the wages I did earn with no one offering any relief....not Bush....not Clinton...not anyone. Cut out of child tax credits, Bush stimulus checks and just about any other kind of tax break and then to top it all off I get hit every year with the frigging AMT that no one including Bush has done anything about. Why in the hell would I feel sorry for anyone that now has to feel a little of that tax burden as I have been feeling? Now because of my being put out of work due to the financial boondogle of millionaire wall street wizards who are basically soul less, I may stand a chance to get a fairer break when it comes to stimulus money, tax breaks, etc. Why should I be unhappy about that?
I hope things work out for you, Dave, I really do. I believe that Bush is just an easy, convenient target for you...a lot of folks played bigger roles than GW in contributing to our current global recession...and some of it is just the natural cycle of things. AMT?...it's unfair...I've been hit by it...but that tells me that you were doing pretty well...wanna be hit even harder?...Well, you've got the right guy in office.
I guess if it were all about you, you'd have nothing to worry about....but it's not. You should be unhappy about that because it will be the ruin of your country.....it will continue to take us away from the ideals put forth by the founders of our country and the framers of our constitution. The ideals that enabled the greatest society the world has ever seen to date, imho. You should be unhappy because it threatens to destroy the opportunities for your children and mine and everybody elses that were inherent in our system and created the magic that was "The American Dream". You should be unhappy because the risk that confronts us if we continue to tread down this socialist path is that our generation will be the first that leaves our children with a lower standard of living and less opportunity to do something about it in the history of our nation...... I can't speak for you or others, but I would be unhappy if I were responsible for doing that to my children and theirs......
You show me a man who leads by opinion polls, and I'll show you Jimmy Carter. Something tells me that Bush would have liked to lighten your tax burden, but then policy like that gets him accused of turning his back on the poor and suffering.
No pass for Bush in this article as it states that under his wing the national debt doubled in size but it certainly takes Obama to task as well: http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/04/15/walker.tax.debt/index.html Of course Obama was handed an economic bucket full of crap on Jan. 21st so who knows what he may have done with a clean slate. In any event he may be a one term president if the tax load on Americans goes up much faster than earnings.
.....and of course Bush was handed a bed of roses? Please don't get into revisionist history here....
I think if you'll really look into this current economic condition, you'll see that it began in 2001. I'm not economist but it seems to me that Bush did a pretty good job delaying this crash as long as he could. Like I said, I may be dead wrong, I'm no economist.
Agreed.....when the enemies of our nation launch attacks on New York and Washington murdering thousands of innocents on the city streets necessitating a massive federal response both from a policy and economic perspective while he's simultaneously dealing with a busted asset bubble and inherited recession, then the comparison will be more alike..... ....like I said, a bed of roses.
Of course Bush, Cheney and Rice supposedly ignored warnings from Clark about 911 but regardless after it happened all bets were off for W's presidency....I'll give you that.
   Of course.....had your boy Clinton had the stones to whack Bin Laden when he had the opportunity, it would be moot.
