You know I was thinking.....it's too bad Utah didn't get their shot at a healthy Florida team last January.....really.....I would have liked to have seen that one. A team that struggled to beat a woeful Michigan team 25-23, Weber....State??? 37-21 and New Mexico....13-10.....wow....that would have been something to see. These guys don't know what they are asking for.  http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/11604261
I am pretty sure they would have liked that too. Unfortunately, not only do they NOT get that opportunity EVER under this system... but better than that, they get to be subjected to year's worth of ********, guessing game, deragatory speculation and hack job articles.. Actually, make that an eternity's worth.. You outta try stepping outside the box and looking at this now... Not only is the BCS worried, they are now trying to win the 'public opinion' war which is the only thing ever truly won under the BCS system. These guys are now hiding behind 'two wars and a recession'... Cowards and thieves, the whole lot of them. They own everything and have to be dragged kicking and screaming to give up the slightest bit of anything that was never truly theirs anyway. Yup, I am pretty sure those guys would have liked to play the game too. Instead, they got f*cked by a system and now have to be subjected to cowardly snipes from the back like this. You got the title. What more do you want? Or is it that you're afraid that somehow you'll be historically linked to 'the title that broke the BCS' If that is the case, you need not worry. You guys were a great team and most certainly title worthy. One game and one season didn't get us to this place, I think that is what you guys miss in all of this. The system is f*cked up, not Florida.
Fair enough post Corey. I personally don't think Utah would have been competitive vs. Florida but that's my opinion.
exactly. and do please note the BCS' defense of itself here: 1. Congress should have better things to do 2. Everyone signed up for this (which ignores the fact that they only even let these conference sign up for bread crumbs out of fear of Congressional investigation). They weren't 'signed up' before.. that's like making the starving man thank you for handing him crumbs, while you eat from his field. 3. Our system generates lots of controversy, money and media coverage. That's good for the game. 4. The NCAA doesn't decide the champion in college football, the BCS does. (this will be their undoing btw) There isn't one legitimate defense for their monopoly, and an anti-trust investigation is going to hammer them IF it is actually carried out. I just hope that it really is. What I hate about this system is how they really use #3 to distract people from the real issue. You and I can debate Florida vs Utah till the cows come home and it just doesn't do a squat bit of good. They see that as being 'good for the game.' I see that as the man behind the curtain trying to distract you with more smoke and sound effects.
you're right Bill.. I wish all those Gator haters would stop starting topics like thisss... ohhh nevermind.
Corey, my yawn is non discriminatory! Gator haters and Gators who beat it to death all get equal opportunity.
I'm just messing around anyway. How long until summer football for the Gators? We need a kickoff countdown. Now I gotta go find that section where we were talking about USC. There appears to be a big update.
Man...I hate it when an article is written currently....the article I posted was written April 7th....and some of...not all....of you guys want to relegate it to beating a dead horse just because it was discussed before. Arabs vs. Jews is an age old conflict but when something happens today or an opinion is posted in the news today it doesn't mean that reporting it and discussing it is beating a dead horse. It seems that when something becomes "uncomfortable" for someone on this board that topic then becomes verbotten and a stick your head in the sand mentality develops. It is a shortcoming of the board. You can't act like volatile topics don't exist anymore just because we had a couple of topics about them on Skybox and some people decide we are done with em. You can decide they are off limits for Skybox but that doesn't mean they are no longer relevant topics to the rest of the sports world. And I am not just talking about the BCS controversy either.
While that may be flattering that you want to adopt my attitude, you probably need to try a little harder.
If you are talking about Spring practice and the Spring game that's next Sat. April 18. If you want to attend you could go to gatorzone.com and find the actual time.
Sun Belt Conference Champion Troy was the team really screwed. They should've been playing Alabama in The Sugar Bowl. They were much more deserving of it than Utah.
troy was 8-4 entering the bowls utah was 12-0 entering the bowls. Now I understand that you BCS conference lovers don't put much stock into things like...wins, losses, head to head and facts.... but all that aside, i don't get what Terry is talking about.
BTW: both Alabama and Auburn have said it isn't in their best interest to play Troy, so they won't.. Auburn's AD literally said that it is not in their best interest to play Troy if they wish to play for a National Title.. But they will play other teams from that conference, just not the team who wins it. Both big boys in Alabama have played (and even lost) to Sun Belt teams not named troy.. Jesus, Auburn is playing instate Furman for homecoming this year... So we have 2 SEC big dogs, ducking an instate little dog...and you guys get to make fun of Troy and their 'horse sh*t' conference.. How very... "BCS" of you
Geez Corey, I think Terry was doing the same thing you BCS haters were doing. His solution is as as the ones put forth by those who wait until everything is over with and then find their alternative to the BCS champion and push it hard. This year it was Utah, two years ago it was Boise State. You haters would have had a real tough time if Boise State hadn't lost. Then you would have been in a position of saying that Boise State and Utah should have played. That is so obviously wrong that it wouldn't have had any credibility. However lucky for your BCS haters Utah was unbeaten and beat a good BCS team and gives you the opportunity to continue to beat your drum. The haters would be much more credible if you would put forth a scenario before the games rather than after. But hindsight is a wonderful thing.
