Florida actually did have the best record in the SEC in 1990 in Spurrier's first season and were it not for some rather peculiar SEC actions in response to some NCAA B/S that I have discussed at length before the Gators would have been the champion. So....in the ring of honor around the top of the stadium painted with all of the other championships since 1991 are the words glorifying that season: "1990 Best Record in the SEC" Doesn't really work with the Longhorns though because of the loss to TexTech.
Usually when there is an asterisk there is an explanation contained for the asterisk, but what it really looks like is what Terry said, motivation.
I thought initially when I read it, that they would release it with all their media info, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So I'm sure Terry is right, and it's for the team. I think it's kinda silly, but don't see a problem with it.
