Should be interesting. Kentucky is the blueblood of SEC Basketball and Calapari is a pirate, he's been playing with house money at Memphis in terms of he can recruit anybody in the country, take academic risks, take bad character kids, whatever. He just had to win.

I wonder if Kentucky will be as loose with the academics and character issues as he's used to at Memphis.

    Calapari to UK

Have some or any of his players got in trouble? I don't recall hearing about problems at Memphis, but there is so much going on in college sports I might have missed it.

I would say that Calapari and Bob Huggins are very similar in their objectives and recruiting style.

Huggins lack of academic progress at Cincinnati was his downfall.

It would appear he has found a home at West Virginia.

Calipari takes guys who have no intention on staying for 4 years and he's rather unapologetic about it. I believe he has taken a few guys at Memphis that he may have trouble getting in... Doesn't the SEC have some sort of non-qualifier rule or something like that?

I don't think he has ever had a single player graduate. He is mercenary of the lowest order. He makes Bob Huggins look like Father Flanagan.

I'm sure it is the same as football, so yes. However there are still differences as to individual schools and their requirements.

Kentucky fans are very happy with this hire, we will see how it works out in the long run.

Re: the "book" on Calipari, I yield to my more informed brethren. Here is an interesting quote from Dan Silver, one of the writers for ND's Blueandgold.com, taken from his April 2, 2009, column:
