A old buddy of mine just called me up from Misty's and said there's some Florida chick there wearing a MAG-39 shirt, doin' shot's and chasing them down with red beer, and wearing a Cornhead. She keeps shouting out loud "If there were 5 quarters in Football, we woulda beat you guys in the Fiesta"....

    I want pictures Wendy.

Oh man, Bobda, I've seen enough references to that game in trophy cases and tribute displays today to last me another 14 years.

And Husky, if there were 5 quarters in Football, N would have been in triple digits. However, if there were maybe 1 ~ 1 1/2 quarters, it might have been a game!

And I can't wait to meet the person to which you are referring. Couldn't be me, though I do have a shirt like that. But today it would have been under 5 layers of outer-wear. Plus, I'm a big nerd and don't drink at all. :(

Kidding aside, WOW, what a neat place to tour. Made it almost worth it that I still can't feel my face. Just call me Rudolph from here on. Anyway, amazing amount of accessibility to the student-athelete areas. The weight room is like a giant fish bowl that anyone can look into from the outside and portions of the inside. You can even look into the medical/training areas with an 'endless pool' lane, hot tubs, and whatever other medical equipment there was. Chatted with the security fellow for a long time - he said too bad I didn't come later because I could have gone with him on his rounds and seen more behind the scenes stuff. Then I talked to the fellow in the trophy hall for a while - he just liked telling stories of Nebraska lore. Admitting up front that I was from UF and granting the awsomeness of the '95 team seemed help skip right to the friendly chatting stage.

And I think I saw more student atheletes in an hour while I was there than during 12 years at UF. Granted, I've never hung out in the atheletic facility at home during mid-afternoon - they'd have to basically stroll past my office (off campus) for me to cross paths with them at UF. And I felt like a midget when the Volleyball chicks passed. Then I remembered that Nebraska has sent a fair number of UF's Volleyball teams home in the late rounds of the tournaments. Grrr on them.

Overall, beautiful facility, stadium, tributes, etc. I really would like to see a game here now. And the field looked perfect - like they are getting ready to play a game tomorrow. Too bad baseball is away this weekend, it would have beed fun to at least see that. And Husky, I took pictures of the framed Gator Bowl poster in the training facility, and the tribute pictures in the trophy hall for you. Sorry though, the Gator Bowl trophy is still making rounds somewhere and was not on display yet. Though I did get to see and photo all three crystal ball trophies (yes, even '95), and even saw and touched all three Heisman trophies! Really cool Heisman room had a highlights movie and the spotlights on the wall pictures, jerseys, or the trophies themselves synched with what was being shown in the movie. Way cool, even if I didn't really care about the people themselves. Made me wish we'd taken the time to explore our new champions hall to see if it is anything like that.

All in all, a fun afternoon. Now that I have a deeper appreciation for all things Nebraska, maybe HuskerDude can lighten up on the poor Cubbies.

GREAT REPORT WENDY!! Sounds like you've been HUSKERISED.

I still have access to those seats (tickets) Rick and I used for our Road Trip. All you gotta do is let me know.

I'll lighten up on you and the Cubs, but not the Cubs.

Hey, here's a breakfast tip for ya , start your morning off with a Egg Burger and a Red Beer today (O'Douls works also). That'll warm up those rosey cheeks!!

Glad you had a good walk around, can't wait for the pics.
