    JIF! My consiglieri.....

This is a very wise man. And don't discount his "old school" philosophy because it has served him well.

Stop the freebies for the illegals and those who won't work. Once this country becomes less attractive to freeloaders , foreign and domestic, our expenses will start to fall in line. Cut taxes dramatically.

I am not the one throwing Obama under the bus.

I'm still willing to see how he can do and hope for the best.

Jif, I have probably sent out over 300 resumes in the past 8 weeks and I've had over 200 conversations with recruiters, business friends and prospective employers.

I had a video conference interview wth two VPs, an HR person and a product Line manager two weeks ago and next week I have 6 interviews lined up down in Florida and I am traveling there at my expense.

So....I take great offense at your "sitting on my arse....work is there if I want it" comments......and with good reason.

Just because I'm not far right as many here are doesn't mean I'm far on the left either.

That is the biggest problem we have in this country....everybody thinks they have to be on one pole or the other.

I track mostly in the middle with a slight lean to the left and I like it there usually.

If I sense the slight lean to the right is better I'll be there or smack in the middle where I wish more of our nation's politicians were able to gravitate to.

When you must always be polar opposites you will always have rabid opposition on the other side and it remains very difficult to get anything worthwhile accomplished that has benefit for the majority.

I haven't "abandoned" Obama but I was never his "supporter" either....not before he was nominated anyway.

After the last 8 years it didn't matter who stepped in from the Dem side.

Now....if the economy would have been humming along....my job was fine....and we weren't still in a pointless waste of money and lives war in Iraq I could easily have voted for McCain/Palin over Obama/Biden.

But....the state of the union was a complete mess come election time and that was it for me.....I had way too much of Bush/Cheney by that time.

Based only upon your comments on these forums, your lean to the left has you bouncing into Karl Marx. Some lean.....but hey, to each their own.

It's a left lean but there are huge areas of left that I don't want to venture into....not at this point anyway.

I think that was a pretty common opinion. Obama wasn't really elected, the Republicans were unelected. Unfortunately, we have Obama and Pelosi thinking that they have some sort of popular mandate for their agenda. Heaven help us.

    Gip,

    Its a long road.

The upside is that they think they have a mandate although the numbers do not reflect that at all. If they continue down this path, the midterms will be quite interesting.

It is no wonder they are in a big hurry to start redrawing the districts... They got away with that in CA, they will try it nationwide now.

If the Dems lose ground in Congress in the midterms, he may well be one and done if he doesn't turn it around down the stretch. But the Dems appear to be digging in for an election that is still 3.8 years off...

The Republicans got their ass bounced, deservedly so, for not leading. Someone better lead or they're going to get bounced too.

....I had overlooked this little nugget.

Let's be clear on this one. It closed at 9625 on election day. Two days later, it was down 1000 points. 6700 yesterday.....Coincidence? I think not....amateur hour.

    Yes coincidence.....try Bush....again

    WASHINGTON

One day after Barack Obama was elected the next U.S. president, the outgoing Bush administration detailed its plans to borrow a record $550 billion through the end of the year to back the financial bailout.

The Federal Reserve, meanwhile, said it will increase interest payments to banks as authorities battle the worst financial crisis in decades.

The Treasury Department said yesterday that it will sell $55 billion in bonds next week, part of a massive borrowing effort to cover the $700 billion bailout and a budget deficit that is expected to hit a record of nearly $1 trillion next year. The government's surging financing needs are a stark reminder of the challenges awaiting Obama even as the current administration moves to implement its rescue program and the Fed fine-tunes its approach to the crisis.

The financial turmoil flared anew yesterday with the Dow Jones industrial average falling 486.01 points -- more than 5 percent -- as investors absorbed more bad economic news.

Yes of course.....and after promising to take appropriation requests line by line and do away with earmarks and pork, his first budget to hit the Hill was the Mother of all earmark and pork barrel appropriations. That too must have been coincidental......I think not.

here's what I don't get... If you all remember, the economy began a huge slide during the election turmoil of 2000.. Actually, the last quarter before the election was rather bad..

But even though the dot com bubble was bursting and the stock market was going boom, it was all Bush's fault...

But now Obama gets a skate for the economy he inherited?

Great question Corey.....the notion that the economy was on cruise control at the end of Clinton's watch is absolute fantasy. In actuality the economy had begun slowing well before election amidst the dot com bubble and the 2000 tech swap out.....the recession was in full bloom as W took office and then doubled down with the 9/11 attacks.....God forbid had we had this group of amateurs dictating policy during that double fisted crisis......it's a damn good question but one that they won't answer....one thing is certain however, the Marsh Rat crisis would never have gotten to the level that it did.....good God. What the f^^k have these people done to our country?

    Dave,

I'm sympathetic to your situation but as long as you devote time looking in the rear view mirror for someone to blame you will not be able to see what's ahead.

I got over the "looking back" tendency a few weeks ago George.

Hence....I have some serious interviews/meetings set up in Florida next week in my industry. Wish me luck....so Jif doesn't have to worry himself sick about my freebies.
