Smith makes it a 6 point lead with 16.3 seconds left. florida has made a valiant effort to come back in this game but Tennessee was too tough.
florida hits a 3 to cut it to 3 and florida fouls Smith. He makes one of them to go up by 4 with 7 seconds left
That was an important win for Tennessee and the Gators only home loss this season, with Kentucky coming up. Gators came back but just got to far behind. Someday we will beat Pearl! Congratulations Tom.
That must have been a good game to watch. I gave up on Kentucky yesterday and then I saw that they came within a whisker of beating LSU. Don
The too far behind scenario is why the ticky tack stuff or the non-calls do have a bearing on these games. That can be a big reason for the "too far behind"... But...this team isn't worth defending and stirring everyone up here so... congratulations Vols.....
The roundball version of Tenn has Florida's number right now....for what ever reason and including that they play great offense when playing UF.
It's now Tennessee and South Carolina tied for the lead in the SEC East. We play each other on Thursday in their back yard. We then close the season with Alabama at home. We beat South Carolina at home by the slim margin of 82-79. That was in the middle of January. Alabama, we have not yet played.
That last game between Tenn and South Carolina was nuts. Tennessee was blowing South Carolina off the court in the first half but the Gamecocks put together one of the best 2nd halves you will ever see and got back into it and nearly pulled off the upset but Tennessee did just enough to hang on. I am looking forward to round 2 and this time its for first place!
Went to the game ... very exciting comeback in both halves. We were always just that one last score away from the tie. Then there would be a turnover, foul, or fluke play, and you could feel the momemtum turn again. It still felt like we could pull it off - right up until UT's last free throw to put them up 4. It still amazed me when people started to leave before then. I rarely go to Basketball games (especially that aren't the season-beginning warm-up games), so this was a lot of fun. Dodge supplied everyone and orange or blue T-shirt and they were all layed out on the seats when you arrived. It looked pretty cool when everyone got there and most put them on. The place wasn't 100% full - I assume due to some pretty bad weather that came through earlier that day. This was still 20-30 minutes before game-time. Sorry about the bad cellphone pix. I don't know the details of basketball rules enough to know if the refs were fair. There were plenty of times that play would stop and we wondered who did what - usually when it was away from the action. But I know UF missed quite a few free throws ... at least enough to cover the final points difference.
"But I know UF missed quite a few free throws ... at least enough to cover the final points difference." This hurts Calathes as a player big time.
