Mario williams signed by Houston and will be the number 1 pick in the draft, Texans pass on Reggie Bush.

Im looking forward to the Dolphins picking Sinorice moss or Santonio Holmes

The steal of the draft so far is the Denver Broncos trading up to grab Jay Cutler of Vanderbilt at #11. I still can't see Vince Young as an NFL QB and I wouldn't have drafted him on any round as a QB. Matt Leinert is a weak-armed college QB and I wouldn't have spent a #1 on him. Sometimes those guys work out OK, like Kenny Stabler, and sometimes they don't, like Cade McNown. Cutler is the real deal with all the tools.

Just speculation on my part but I think with regards to Reggie Bush.

    1. Kubiak comes from a system that always has a good running game and they never drafted a RB #1.
    2. Recent stuff probably hurt him character wise and they are big on that at the Texans
    3. You also have to wonder if Reggie Bush was looking like a hold out in terms of being able to sign him.

But we need defense pretty bad here in Houston, so hopefully this guy is the real deal.

:D I see where my Buckeyes had five players drafted in Round 1! Not too shabby!

The Lions pulled another boner by passing on Jay Cutler.

I never understand what the Lions are doing. Its been decades since I understood and it probably seems much longer than that to Lions fans...

The Titans have certainly rolled the dice today, didn't they? Vince Young AND LenDale White? I see the potential there for a big upside, but I also see them betting tens of millions on some guys who're not sure things...

    steal

<t>The real steal in the draft was Lendale White who got picked by the titans in mid second round, he will be playing with Vincesanity.... i wonder how that will work out.<br/>

And of course Umiami continues its streak of 12 consecutive years with a 1st round pick, and we have the most total picks in the NFL. I didn't see any gators or huskers up there.</t>

I guess Josh McCown and/or Jon Kitna are going to lead the Lions to the Super Bowl.

Here is the NFL Draft Tracker:

So far, I like the Cowboys picks among several others. Bill Parcell's read the riot act to LenDale White, then didn't draft him. He has a keen eye for talent and picked up Bobby Carpenter from Ohio State and Anthony Fasano from Notre Dame in the first two rounds. Not too shabby...

I'm thrilled with the Jets first four picks. Given Pennington's very uncertain future I was upset when they passed on Leinart but when five more teams did the same I figured they knew more about him than I do.

I don't see Vince Young being much of a pro QB.

This was probably the worst year for QBs that I can remember. When the Titans passed on Leinert, that sent up red flags all over the league. Norm Chow is the OC there and the HC Fisher is a former Trojan player. If THEY didn't want Leinert (and they needed a QB) there was something very wrong...

As it is, the Titans can still hit the Bozo Trifecta if they draft Marcus Vick to go along with Vince Young and LenDale White. That would give them one guy who won't think, one guy who can't think and a guy who thinks you're talking about someone else...

There was a lot of talk that Fisher and Chow wanted Leinart but that the owner and GM wanted Vincent Young. They see him as a better version of Steve McNair. Owner desires trumps! Of course it didn't hurt that Steve McNair was very close to Vince, even given that McNair is currently at odds with mgmt over his contract.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vince turned out to be a very good NFL QB. I know everybody says he can't pass and read a defense and maybe that's right and he'll be a terrific TE/WR eventually. But the kid is a winner and a leader, and I think he can be a QB in the NFL. Time will tell on him though.

It may take a few years before Young can decipher what the likes of a Bill Bellichick defense can throw at him.

Joey Harrington hasn't figured it out in 4 years, and he was the greatest QB in College the year he came out.

Far be it from me to defend the Lions. However, they have chosen to sign 2 QBs who have NFL experience and are committed to 6 mil in salary to Kitna and McCowan. In today's salary capped NFL there is no way that they could apportion the money for a 1st round QB.
Once again they have ignored OL prospects in the early rounds. I don't care who they put behind the pylons they call O linemen the same problems with the offense are going to happen next season. They just don' t get it.

Interesting fact. Irish fans are used to ND players being absent from the first 3 rounds of the draft. This year there were no Michigan players taken in the first 3 rounds. Strange. Meanwhile NC State had 3 defensive players taken. How bad was their offense?

No Mich player in first three rounds just means that they are loaded this year with top players. It's almost not fair that our young lads have to play them. :)

Hey Lil G!!!....good post.....especially noted that the Canes have landed at least a first rounder in the last 12 consecutive years and a record six first rounders in 2004.

    ---------------------------------------

As far as the draft goes....how did Vince Young graduate from a college program like Texas while scoring an abysmally low score of 16 in his aptitude test?

I think the NFL teams went for glitzy names to fill seats versus real players they passed up until late in the first round or second.

Witness Santonio Holmes or D Angelo or Sinorice Moss going late....its the year that will be remembered as the worst top 10 first round picks ever.

Did anybody see any Notre Dame players in the draft?

    The Gonz...proud papa :D
