I suppose that there are some out there that go to the lowest bidder. Probably become writers at CBS.com.

Notre Dame will always get the high bid. They have the biggest appeal.

CBS Sportsline definitely has a couple of poor writers!

The Notre Dame part wasn't the part that caught my eye however, any of the schools are going to the highest bid, what caught my eye was Dodd defending the BCS.

This is a system that was created by the SEC doing what was best for the SEC... Then the Big12 acted in their best interest. For a decade now we've been told that there's no shame in that game.

However, the MWC tries to do something in their own interest and they are the bad guys here? oh boo hoo.

The justification for this system is the fact that the Sun Belt conference gets a big pay day?? I love how this hack of a writer likes to refer to conferences such as the Mountain West as 'members'.. they are 'members' only in the loosest terms and ONLY because these lawsuits that are now a bit murky would be slam dunk, no brainers if the BCS absolutely excluded those Division 1 conferences.

Dodd's argument is the worst I've read yet. You will have to excuse my language here but he is telling those from the non-power conferences to be happy that they are working in the house and not out in the field..

And all they gotta do to get in the house is finish unbeaten AND with style (minimum rankings).

Meanwhile members of the power conferences get to come in stinking, smelling like whores and aqua velva... feet up on the table and best of all, people like Mr Dodd are there to remind you that they are special...and the house boys, are just house boys.

This notion that the BCS invented, or even saved, college football (let alone college sports as Mr Dodd hints at) is absolute bullsh*t. That is such high grade crap that it is best if you keep open flames away from it.

I am NOT..suggesting that Utah would've beaten Florida or was better than Florida...so please do not make it about that.

This is about the house...a house that belongs to all, but few ever stand a chance at getting in and they get in because of WHO they are not WHAT they are. If they are all truly 'equal members' as Dodd suggests, then why do some have to qualify with style points yet others simply need to win their league?

I think Mr Dodd needs to spend more time in the field before he's truly qualified to judge who should be inside the house.

Gosh Corey, you are not suggesting Utah is better than Florida? You wrote the equivalent of a 500 page book about how Utah deserved the National Championship a few weeks ago.

    Geez,

But other than revising history as to how the BCS came about how can one ignore such eloquent and logical argument you put forward?

Bill, (name calling deleted by Tom McCord rest of message intact)

The BCS is the creation of SEC czar Roy Kramer. The BCS replaced the Bowl Alliance which replaced the Bowl Coalition. The single most noteworthy event of this entire process was the creation of the "Super Conference" by the SEC.

Google 'Creation of BCS' and you get this article...

I am not revising anything. The creation of the super conference and subsequent formation of the 'bowl alliance/coalitions' is exactly what led to the implementation of the BCS...which is the brain child of SEC commissioner, Roy Kramer.. I don't see how that is revisionist.

But I am sure you do....

Corey, let's get something straight, I don't call you names and your aren't going to call me names, period. So I'll give you a chance to edit that part of the post and be glad to discuss revisionist history with you after.

    Corey,

You went too far that time. I don't care if you were making a Saturday Night Live draw back or not, it was uncalled for.

I don't believe that Corey was trying to call names here....he just was a little edgy with his humor.....and possibly missed the mark a tad.

I have seen Corey call names before....but I do not think this is one of those times.

Right or wrong his point is lost in the negative feelings he expresses toward another person on the board. Humor or not, it was not obvious. If he said that to me, i would know it was humor because of our good history. Because it was said to someone that has had words with him several times, it is not so obvious.

It detracted from his (Corey's) point. It really shouldn't be a big deal to delete it.

Actually before the BCS/Bowl Coalition/whatever. Non-BCS conference teams had no shot at the big money bowls, even when BYU won in 1984 they didn't have access to the big money bowls.

BCS hasn't saved anything that's for sure. But the BCS has (grudgingly) given non-BCS schools the only shots they have had in the history of college football at the big money from the big money bowls.

I like Bill just fine. I can't ever really say that I 'had words' with him. If he feels we have then that is his perception of things.

It is one thing that we can't mention the Gators or anything even remotely related to the Gators within at least 10 degrees of separation without being accused of having an obsession with them...

But now I gotta kiss ass and not joke around with him, as I would anyone else, because this topic (in his mind, not mine) somehow has something to do with the Gators...

Sorry Tom, I love ya to death but I disagree. Its bull.

    Terry,

Still, BYU did win an NC under the old system. Now we give them access to the bigger bowls (barely and only under the gun of a lawsuit), but at the cost of any shot at the title.

We now have institutionalized and systemic discrimination. That's a fact. Worse than that, we do it all under the guise of 'seeking a real national champion.'

    As for ALL the moderators.

You can delete it if you want, but I'm not going to. If you feel that I should apologize to Bill, the I will.

Bill, I was teasing you and making an SNL reference. I am as sorry for the fact that I upset you as I am that you lack the sense of humor to see it for what it was.

Corey, at this point I guess it's just a generational thing or the fact that I quit watching Saturday Night Live a long time ago.

Let me just say that I'm sorry you think I lack a sense of humor and that it had nothing to do with the Gators.

    Back to revisionist history.

You are right I call it revisionist history. How you can read the article you posted and draw the conclusion that the BCS was created by the SEC for the benefit of the SEC is beyond me.

Your claim that it was created by the SEC for the SEC is so insulting to the other conferences and Notre Dame for that matter.

Your link gives Kramer credit for being a driving force behind the creation of the system. There is a major difference between someone being a driving force and the result being only beneficial for them.

Unless the representatives for the other conferences and Notre Dame were completely inept or stupid then the result would represent what they all wanted not just the SEC. Why in the world would Notre Dame, yes your Notre Dame, the Big 12, Big 10, Pac 10, ACC and Big East go along with a system that is just for the benefit of the SEC? The answer is of course they wouldn't so it was an agreement that all those conferences agreed to.

Here's another link going back to the original Bowl Coalition and leading to the BCS.

Corey I'm not sure there is a system out there that would satisfy you. If we went to a playoff I'm sure you'd complain about the seeding of the teams not being fair and slanted towards the SEC and B12, or even in a 16 team playoff that gave guaranteed bids to the WAC/MtnWst/CUSA you'd be unhappy if some Sun Belt team got left out or something.
