This story seems to get more interesting (and annoying) all the time: http://collegefootball.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=914666 In my opinion, this kid is doing himself more harm than good. The amount of pressure that will be on this kid no matter where he ends up will be tremendous.
I don't want him anywhere close to The Hill. I see flashbacks of Kelly Washington. Lot's of I and no team anywhere close to his mentality. If he was ever offered a scholly I'd pull it.
its like a the latest 'britney spears, lindsey lohan left for the bar without wearing underwear' stories. We're all going to watch, and even though you think you want to see how it ends up... you really don't. someone is going to show their ass and eventually every one involved gets screwed... there can be no good to come from this. at least with all of his advisers it saves us from reading mr. bryce referring to himself in the 3rd person.
Cindy took my words. These guys waiting to commit are strictly "I and Me" type guys that don't know how to spell the word "Team". We do not need nor want anyone that thinks they are above the team.
Where is the pride of the schools that are recruiting this little prima donna? Advisor? Does that rhyme with agent?
My guess would be that choosing a spouse and choosing a career after his finishes playing football might be more important.
One would certainly think so. This "advisor" thing is a little scary and makes me lean toward agreeing with Cindy and Tom that this kid is better off not suiting up for the Big Orange. The situation screams future NCAA violation.
He'll be fun when his "advisor" tells the coach that he's not using Bryce correctly or that Bryce isn't getting enough carries. Has his own press conference to criticize the game plans that don't feature Bryce enough. His future sort of reminds me of a Gator QB who transfered, he didn't start, his momma was upset, she was at practice everyday, she talked to the press, her boy wasn't being treated right. What ever happened to him?
I think Bill is closer to the truth: I will never forget Kelly Washington and Peyton Manning. I remember Peyton for his team leadership and, except for one mooning incident  , his outstanding behavior. I remember Kelly Washington for everything that Peyton was NOT. I and me blessed his vocabulary, not we and team! Kelly was a cancer on our team.
I understand what you mean in terms of chemistry, Tom. However, I really think that the danger here lies more along the avenues of what reportedly went on with Reggie Bush while he was at USC. Team chemistry might cost you a few wins, major NCAA violations (except in the case of USC apparently) can cost you a few years. I have to admit that I think landing Brown would be good for Tennessee in some ways though. The publicity and positive vibe that would come along with landing the consensus #1 recruit would be great in the face of all the negative publicity that the program has endured of late. However, the question remains, at what cost to the concept of team?
Terry, that was Josh Portis. His mama thought we should bench Chris Leak for him. He transferred to the University of Maryland, got in a little trouble there and could not crack the starting lineup. He's now at some small college. I think he had a future, mama did not help him in the least.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/27/sports/ncaafootball/27recruit.html?_r=2&ref=sports It looks like this relationship has already raised some NCAA eyebrows before Brown has even signed with a college. Talk about baggage....whichever school winds up with Brown will probably get more than they bargained for...
It will certainly be interesting to see where this circus ends up and whether or not he's the next Maurice Clarett.
