I dunno.....but Lane Kiffin had better be one hell of a coach able to back up what he says because I suspect Urban will keep all those returning players from the National Champions in the entire game this year in Gainesville the way the new UT coach keeps jabbing:

You've gotta be kidding me! A Florida AD criticizing the coach of another SEC school for criticizing his coach. How long has it been since Spurrier was down there in Gainesville? Apparently long enough for the administration to forget half of what he said at his booster events. I understand why the Gators would be a little upset after Kiffin stole two recruits and then rubbed some salt in the wounds with his comments that he made in front of boosters, etc. but I think they're being a little petty here.

eLane was factually wrong in his statement re Meyer's recruitment of NR. Where is Foley's statement factually incorrect? Seems he's gone a little easy on eLane.

 

Hmm..I wonder....Maybe because you're not scared and because you want to give the boosters and the crowd you're speaking to some reason to feel optimism coming off a 5-7 campaign. Maybe as a young unproven head coach you want to talk a good game so that the fan base isn't already down on you before your team even takes the field.... I'm not sure but maybe those could be some reasons. Oh yeah, one other reason, maybe, just maybe, I know this is far-fetched but maybe the world doesn't actually revolve around Florida collegiate athletics. Maybe it really isn't a form of blasphemy to suggest that you have aspirations for your program to be competitive with and sometimes defeat the Gainesville Juggernaut. Heck, maybe Tim Tebow really isn't the Messiah and the spread option isn't indefensible. I don't know, this is all just hypothetical but it could be true, couldn't it??????

 

I'm not getting the eLane reference, obviously in a rivalry taunting situation names are made up for the opponents....such as Admiral Fattypants for Charlie Weis which is obvious...but whats the eLane supposed to reference?

* Kiffin's deal runs through 2014 and averages $2.375 million over the six-year deal. He will earn $2 million this season.

* Tennessee would have to pay $7.5 million to buy out Kiffin's contract in the next two years. That sum drops to $5 million in 2013.

* Kiffin would owe UT $1 million if he left in 2009. That sum drops by $200,000 each year over the course of his contract.

He's looking for that buyout after finding himself on the short end of RUTS by everyone in the SEC on whom he's pissed.

I love this!!! I hadn't heard too many jokes about the Tennessee coach in a while from Gator fans. There was really no need, Urban Meyer owned Fulmer. I'm glad to see that the Gator Nation is feeling a little threatened again, and it's so mature too.

But Aquila is right about the way Florida has indeed owned UT lately and I just don't see the player turnover needed in both programs for this next season to be any different. And now the new coach wants to provide extra motivation for a Fla team that could have treated the Vols like they would treat say....Ole Miss on a hot Sept. day and instead propel the Gator fans and team into their usual frenzy for Tenn and provide Urbs with a reason to leave everyone in for 4 quarters.

I can only imagine what else will coming out of the Vol camp in the next few months.

Well, from a observer with no horse in the race, it appears that Kiffin is going out of his way to piss off opposing coaches. He didn't learn that in the NFL.

I suspect when UT travels to the Swamp next year their first surprise might be the sight of three columns on the UF side of the scoreboard. 8)
