Looks like we have some proof that Nu'Keese spurning the Gators has ruffled some feathers, or scales, or whatever you call the skin of an alligator down in Gator nation. On a related note, word is that Lane Kiffin will report a minor recruiting infraction committed by Urban Meyer. Apparently, Urban contacted Richardson while he was visiting Knoxville.
Chalk up another big surprise for the Vols' staff. Tennessee is looking like Defensive Back University. http://govolsxtra.com/news/2009/feb/05/late-addition-db-jackson-signs-vols/
Great pickup. I don't know if it's just me, but there seems to be a bit more flip flopping by supposedly committed recruits this year. I know a lot of coaches say that with the increase in early verbals that it's increased the late changes of mind for these kids. Pete Carroll said that once a kid commits that the other schools now have a target to recruit against, where as if they maintain interest in 4 or 5 schools through out the recruiting it's harder to get an handle on who you are recruiting against. It's easy to see why coaches would like an early signing period.
Posted this in recruiting before I found this topic: Tennessee's class is full of defensive help. I thought we needed to find an offense. Obviously LK sees something he likes and thinks he can turn around on offense. We just received a late commit from Janzen Jackson, the number 2 DB in the nation. This addition complements the defensive haul made in the rest of our 2009 signing class.
If it's a recruiting violation ..... Kiffen should report it!! On New'Keys ..... yepper, he's a talented guy UF wanted. I hope he's happy in Knoxville.
This is pretty ballsy by Kiffin. Here's a link to his press conference where he tells everybody that he's turning in Urban Meyer, in fact he says he likes it because Urban had to cheat and he still signed with Tenn. However it seems to me he gave Urban the excuse, he says that Nu'Keese didn't tell anybody he was going to Knoxville so he wouldn't get any pressure....so Urban could say he had no idea he was in Knoxville and thought he was calling him at home. Anyway it looks like Kiffin is going to be an outspoken in your face recruiter and coach. Should be fun to watch!! Kiffin Calls out Urban Meyer
Hey AJ what's the story on this kid who Neb pulled the scholarship offer at the last minute? Of course nobody cares when a kid pulls out on you in the last minute, but when I read about a school doing it, for some reason it doesn't seem right. Huskers pull offer
Actually .... from the web site, the event was a ................ recruiting celebration banquet  BTW ..... Gator Country writer Franz Beard claims to have contacted the NCAA re "the call to New'Keys" .... and it is/was not a recruiting violation as claimed by eLane Kiffen. This is getting fun!! Before ya know if, eLane will be proclaiming .... "the spread option" won't work in the SEC!!
Oops, looks like eLane may have stepped ... no fallen ..... in it!! http://www.gatorsports.com/article/20090205/ARTICLES/902050920/1136?Title=Florida_reacts_angrily_to_Kiffin_s__false__accusation Does Kiffin has SFBs ??!??
I bet Mark Richt .... after experiencing Meyer's payback for the UGa TD celebration in 2007 ...... is LHAO at eLane!!
Well, I think most NCAA rules are petty anyway. However, I don't know how using a smoke machine during a recruiting visit is a violation and calling a prospect while that prospect is visiting another school isn't a violation but I really don't care. If Kiffin wasn't only kidding, then I can certainly see why the folks down in Gainesville are upset. The whole thing seems a little petty to me anyway, on both sides. I can't wait until Tennessee starts winning the battles on the field and I really do believe it's coming. Probably not this year but in the very near future. The battles on the field are the ones that actually matter anyway. Kiffin has certainly proven that he can get under the skin of the coach of every major rival Tennessee has so he has to be able to back it up.
Ahhh ... a little backtracking .... "it was just a friendly joke" ... now that eLane's been shown to be a little ignorant of NCAA and SEC rules?!!!
Yeah I am backtracking because I wasn't aware that it wasn't an NCAA violation but then again, it's not exactly necessary for me to know is it? I posted about this when I first picked it up on a Tennessee board. I hadn't seen the video of Kiffin and I obviously didn't make it a point to go search through NCAA rules. Big deal!
Gaterz, why do you refer to him as eLane? Is Lane his middle name? Whoops! Saw your reason in another topic. No need to reply to this one.
