Just what kind of resolution are you looking for?

By the way interesting story about the hackers, keep giving them hell.

Tim, there are a couple, or more, Charleston's. Charleston Southern is in Charleston South Carolina.

Terry, Charleston Southern clobbered Coastal Carolina in their final game of the year. I'm sure that's why Penn State tied them up.

    Early season exhibition games. :)

Hey...I wanna point out that Ohio State had the #6 schedule this year....not bad.

I only do so because I said I give props when props were due.

Great effort vs. the Longhorns by the way.....and rated the #1 Bowl game behind #2 rated Ok-Fla by CFN.

MCG, let's face facts, you do it because you like to get your comments in about Ohio State.

In fact I believe Ohio State always plays a pretty good schedule.

Bill...OK....do you really want to let it go that their schedule is rated the same every year and that last year compared to this year's schedule?

Next year for example I have doubts about the ranking of Florida's schedule. It could be top 20 or it could be as low as top 50 or 60....depending I think on FSU and the SEC West Champion should UF play in the SECCG.

I give the Buckeyes a compliment for the 2008 schedule as the NCAA rated it this year....I'll leave it at that.

    question about schedule rankings....

Are all, for example, 9-4 teams considered to be the same?

If so, that is some serious flawed logic. That pdf file seems to indicate that they are strictly using opponents w/l record. You guys championing the SEC have already made it clear that you think that some of these DI conferences are a joke... now you think they are all the same?

According to that, Georgia played the #4 schedule.

Their noncon games were against: Georgia Southern, Central Michigan, Georgia Tech and next-to-last-place in the Pac10 Arizona State.

    Also using that logic:

Playing Western Michigan 9-4 3rd place in the MacWest is the same as playing..

-Ole Miss (that team you love to prop up)
    -Nebraska
    -Cal
    -Florida State
    -Michigan State
    -Iowa
    -Northwestern
    -Georgia Tech
    -Oklahoma State
    -Oregon State.

Please tell me... is that really a good ranking system?

Corey, I imagine, but am not sure that there is at least a factor in those rankings of what you don't want to hear.

As much as I dislike computer polls in general I trust their SOS rankings more, at least Sagarin.

Well IC, the NCAA's ranking is vastly superior to any biased, subjective analysis I've seen. If you don't like the NCAA's rankings ... do you have a better system?

    Bill,

I checked those numbers. It is win/loss of your opponents. Just look at the final Sagarin polls and the flaws are obvious.

    Gaterz,

I have been pushing my idea for a while. 11 champions, 5 wildcards. Play it out on the field..

You were the one championing those numbers. I just showed you how silly those figures are... Are you going to tell me that all 9-4 teams are the same?

It's great to have an idea Corey, it's quite another to get it implemented.

    Good luck.

Let me add Corey that I think a 16 team playoff starting the weekend that we now have the conference championships, using the 4 BCS bowls on New Years dan and ending a week later than it ended this year would be quite workable.

I would propose that we would do something like this.

Using the existing conference playoffs as the part of the first round, the SEC,

    • Big 12 and ACC would hold their existing playoffs, that would be 6 teams.
Match the Big East against the WAC conference champions. that would bring it to 8 teams.
That leaves the Big 10 and Pac 10 for 10 teams at this point. Pick the best 6 remaining teams, similar to how the BCS rankings are now. No more than one additional team per conference.
Match the Big 10 against one of them, the Pac 10 against another and the other four could be paired.
Play all eight games that weekend, giving us 8 teams to advance.
After that is done seed those 8 teams and match them in the four BCS bowls on New Years Day leaving us four teams and two weeks.
Semi finals same day as the finals were this year and the Championship game one week later. Use the four BCS bowls on a rotating basis for these matchups.
One more week of play and we have a champion.
This system would eliminate 2 bowl spots for other teams, if that's a problem create one more bowl.

By the way, I do think that if we are to get a playoff the existing conference playoffs are a logical starting point.

especially when you're going to be battling the bowls and conferences who are already raping college football for all it's worth. in order to move forward with this idea, you're going to have to take those who are gaining everything from this current situation and convince them to vote for something that is better for the whole...

It's kind of hard to carry on a civil conversation with you when everything you don't agree with, which is a lot, becomes raping and garbage like that.

I am realistic and don't expect my thoughts above to get implemented but I do think we will reach some playoff at some point in the future and in my opinion it will include the current conference playoffs.

There's nothing civil about telling people they aren't good enough simply because of who they are and where they come from...You may want the 'pinky up' treatment for this system because it has rewarded you so well.

Others, have no respect for it at all.

I'm not saying that you are doing those things, but this system is.

Here are some really good articles that I'd highly recommend that you read... and before you dismiss the author as some 'whack job' who is endorsing my point of view... please note that his past few articles were about Tim Tebow being one of the best ever and the winner of the BCS bowl game is the NC....

    anyway, good stuff:
