You can start by taking all of the conference champions, I believe there are 10 or 11 of them, and you can choose the wildcards backward from there.

So Utah being in would never have been in doubt.

11 conference champs. 5 wildcards. No excuses.

We can put it right beside the picture of your annual rant against the BCS, against the SEC and in favor of the Pac 10 and any team outside the BCS that happens to have an unbeaten season even though their schedule is easier.

Both pictures would probably look pretty good together.
You can always find someone who was "hosed" by the system if your desire is to be chronically unhappy.
With a schedule easier than the major BCS schools that includes USC among others.

And I might add that because of the BCS system Utah has been compensated greatly for those accomplishments. Lots of big BCS bowl money in their coffers.

I'll have to throw a similar flag you threw earlier today. That's your opinion, nothing more.
We aren't discriminating against anyone, we are recognizing the fact that teams from some major conferences are likely better than teams from lessor conferences who might have a better record because they don't play the same level of schedule.

By your logic we could probably find some Div 2 team with an even better record and crown them National Champion.

It just doesn't happen that way and isn't logical.

    No Bill,

My issues is with, as I have said, the 'whites only' mindset in Division 1 football.

Only the perceived 'elite' need apply.

    It's a joke.

You are discriminating. You are saying that one-half of the entire Division can serve as cannon fodder, or background music to your triumphant march to a title... the title of the select few... on paper.

You hate Div 1 college football so bad Corey you might find something else to do in the fall. You'll probably live longer.

Me, it's one of the most enjoyable times of the year even if the Gators stuggle.

I'm pretty good with it as I don't take it home with me :)

But that doesn't mean I won't refrain from calling an injustice out. That is how these things perpetuate themselves. The people who get over on you are betting that you:

    -Can be bullied
    -Will just go away

Neither of those things apply to me :D

Even a plus 1 game this year wouldn't satisfy everybody. If Texas wins then who would you take in the plus 1 game? Texas, USC or Utah? I know Corey's answer of course!

    Corey,
Utah won my respect this year but I still don't think that year in and year out they are tested like schools in the "major" conferences are. It just doesn't match up. UNLV, Weber St., Wyoming (I know, I know but like Michigan, UT was down this year), Colorado St., NM, AF, SD State and it's not their fault but beating Michigan this year didn't prove much. These are teams that they play every year. Utah has done great this year but they have to overcome this lack of depth to do it. Now you know I want a playoff and in any scenario that I favor Utah would be included this year but until then if you don't take the rest of the conference into account then there is no way to compare teams that don't play each other.
Oh and by the way, I also disagree on the officiating, there was pass interference on the long pass to Stover (I think) at the goal line (defender pulled down on one arm of the receiver before the ball arrived) that wasn't called and there was an unnecessary roughness that was very questionable early in the game as well and yes they did blow the false start call but I hardly think the calls favored Alabama. Like most cases the bad calls went both ways.
Like I said I am for a playoff. That is the only way to settle this and I don't like the arguments about who is number one. The top 16 in the BCS will get all of the the likely candidates in any given year.

A Men Kp, I would even settle for 8 teams.

Some type playoff will come, but in the meantime I'm not going to let not having one ruin my love of college football.

I will add this, the team that has had more than their share of misses is USC. My feelings about them is that over the last six or so years they have been hands down the best over that period.

I don't mean every year but all put together.

If these teams are annually so weak, why are you afraid to play them?

What would it hurt? You would obviously be walking right through them.....

You can't be bullied, that's for sure.
You could talk the antlers off a reindeer at Christmas (not that there's anything wrong with that)

Your ability to debate is one of the things I like about you and always have.

Thanks Cindy! Coming from you, who is without a doubt the biggest butt kicker on this board, I take that as quite a compliment :)

Yes my opinion gipper just like it's your opinion that Utah is the best.

I would wager that when the final polls come out that more people will agree with my opinion and either Florida or Oklahoma will win the National Championship.

So then what's left for you, your opinion I guess?

Ah wrong once again Bill. My opinion is that Utah deserves to be National Champion because they had the best record and never faltered. (Note in the NCAA BB tournament the champion is the team that plays best in the tourney not necessarily the best team for the year.) Actually I think that SC is the best team and Utah should be champion because in the end it's what team has played the best not has the best personel.
And as to the pollsters who took OK over Tex. even though Texas beat them on a neutral field, I couldn't care less. They couldn't recognize the better team even after they played each other.

Florida played ....TEN.....bowl teams this season.

Also...keeping in mind that the Gator defense often saw the 1st team on the bench watching as the 2nd or 3rd string gave up garbage points late in blowout wins, check out these defensive stats:

. ..The Gators finished the year eighth in the nation in total defense, fourth in scoring defense, 16th in pass defense, 15th in run defense, and second in pass efficiency defense.....against 10 bowl teams and what CBSSportsline calls the 3rd ranked schedule!..

    George/Bill,

Take the ad hominem route if you want, it just shows that you can't stick to the issue....because the facts don't back your case.

    Dave,

You gotta be kidding me. You are boasting that you played TEN bowl teams. Your conference locks up more bowl sports and more premium bowl spots than any other conference. In this new joke of a system, anyone with a pulse makes a bowl game and your conference locks up a bowl spot for anyone with a pulse.

EIGHT of those 10 teams are from the SEC. Case and point of what I am saying... South Carolina playing in a NYD bowl game (no offense Outbound and any other SCAR fans out there).

These are teams that build their 6+ win bowl record against the likes of Wofford, Samford, UAB, La-Monroe, La-Lafayette, Western Kentucky(x2), Norfolk State, the Citadel, Georgia Southern, Arkansas State, App State, and North Texas.

They were also beaten by a rather humbling list of characters OOC. Some teams, like LSU, literally didn't beat a quality opponent all year until the bowl game..

5 of your 10 bowl teams finished with a record of .500 or below in conference play...
