I think it was Nick Saben blowing his freaking top. Utah goes on top of Bama 14 - 0. Bama better wake up... and in a hurry!
Utah has done what Alabama did so much of this season, explode in the first quarter. They get up 21-0, now it's 21-10 heading for halftime. Should be an interesting 2nd half.
My sentiments exactly, Bill. Bama has rarely played an "entire" game the whole season. Typically they've played their best ball in the first half. We'll see if they can reverse that trend and play their best in the second half of this one. Should be interesting. Either way, it's safe to say that Utah was/is a worthy adversary.
I think the Tide has turned. After playing so fast and not giving the 'Bama defense time to really line up, Utah has slowed down the pace. I'm sure that they had that "Oh My Gawd" moment where they realized maybe they could beat Alabama if they just don't screw up...which is of course the exact opposite of the mentality that got them to 21-0. They are now playing more cautiously and not to make mistakes, not to lose. Alabama on the other hand was fired up by the punt return for the TD and their defense is now in the flow of the game. I think Bama will probably shutout Utah in the 2nd half and score enough to beat them 24 to 21 or 31 to 21 ...something like that. Terry
28 - 17 Utah with 11 minutes to go, Bama with the ball on about their 20. Bama can win this game but they can't afford any mistakes.
I can't believe it, Utah just beat Alabama. And it really wasn't even as close as the final score indicated. Utah just dominated Alabama. John Parker Wilson will see Utes in his nightmares. I thought for sure Bama would come out in the 2nd half and take care of business, but they never did. I know some will make a lot of the suspension of the OL (Andre Smith) for Bama and certainly that could have made a difference. But even without him Alabama wouldn't have recruited a single player who was on that Utah roster. I'll bet if Saban could have, before the game, picked an all-star squad from the 2 rosters, he wouldn't have chosen a single Utah player. Saban was outcoached, and Alabama was outplayed. So congrats to those scrappy Utes, they proved they belonged....at least tonight!!
That said it all Terry... that said it all. So, how loud do the talking heads get when they climb onto the Ute bandwagon? It will be interesting to see what comes of this tomorrow.
I was a hell of a lot more impressed with Utah's win over Alabama in the Sugar than SC's win over PSU in the Rose Bowl. If the AP is thinking of naming another Nat. Champion, I say why not give it to the team that had the best season....UTAH!!!
Someone check the stars... Dave, myself, gip and tom all coming down on the same side of an issue? Utah #1
