Great article. I remember Clemson winning the NC but I had long since forgotten that the opponent was Nebraska. I've known for many years about the bitter rivalry between Clemson and South Carolina because of a girl from SC that I dated in my younger days. Nice perspective on the bowl game.
I remember that game well. I was very surprised that Clemson handled Nebraska. Then it was a couple of years later that an even more powerful Nebraska team was upset by Miami in the Orange Bowl. The Gators had hired Clemson Head Coach Charlie Pell who went down in flames of an NCAA investigation in 1984. Pell did a lot of things wrong at Florida and set the program back a lot, but he did put in place a Booster organization that has made a major, and legal, difference to Gator sports. So Outbound, what do you think of your new coach?
I feel like Dabo has what it takes to make it to the next level. But I don't think he made as much difference this year as some do. Anyone who really looked at the team prior to the season could see what was coming. Some just chose not to.
Outback, unfortunately the quote function doesn't work well on this software. It's kind of best to just copy and then do the quote brackets on either end yourself. What makes you say that you could see what was coming before the season started? Coach? Players? Just curious, it seems that Clemson plays some very good games then not well at all in others. By the way, the Gators sure wanted C J Spiller at running back and were quite surprised on signing day when he went your way.
The team was very young and inexperienced on OL and DB it doesn't matter how many quote Skill players you have if you can't block or tackle. Had some good talent in the wings with no plays on the field and the way the practices were structured they were not learning as they should. My younger brother who is old enough to be a grandfather was one of those that couldn't see it coming. Think that has been remedied.

Try 60's Tom. I remember where she lived (Columbia, SC) and that she had blond hair. That's about it. :?
"How did you like Tommy Bowden as a coach?" Liked TB he did a lot for this team, good morals and sights on quality people as well as quality players, was disappointed when he left.
I hated TB but that's cause he kicked our butts year and year out but then again, most Clemson coaches have done that besides Frank Howard. That was the only Clemson coach that South Carolina has a winning record against. Question Outbound, why does Clemson put the one coach who struggled to beat South Carolina on such a high pedestal?
