Babette our black poodle was with us for over 15 years. We knew she was getting weaker, but today she had a stroke/seizure, we took her to the vet and between the vet and us concluded she was in to much stress and pain to continue. She was family and just a strange looking human. She was our companion and loved us as much as we loved her. She was bred to be a show dog but because she had a bad bite and could not be, we were lucky to get her. Here's her picture when she was about a year or so old as we like to remember her. Bye Babette you will be missed.
That's a very cool tribute, Bill. Pets can be incredible companions - always there to let you know you're loved and needed, and how about a treat while you're at it? I'm sure Babette was as lucky to be in your family as you were to have her.
Bill, there's a website called Rainbow Bridge you might be interested in. For what it's worth. My wife discovered it 10 years ago when our firstDogChild passed. Sorry for your loss.
Sorry to hear about that Bill, I know how much a part of a family a pet can be and their loss is very difficult. Terry
Bill, Sorry for the loss of your poodle. Pets can almost become like family, especially if they have been around for a long time. Don
My edit above was just to add a word I realized I had left out. Thanks to all of you. There's no puppy in the mill right now. I think we will take a little break from a dog. That's more my wife's thought than mine, and she's having her 2nd knee replacement in Feb so we need to wait for that to play it's course before making a decision. We've had dogs for over 40 years so I doubt it will be all that long. Anyhow thanks for all the good thoughts.
I'm sorry for your loss, Bill. I know the feeling all too well. We've put down 3 Golden Retrievers and two cats. It is heartbreaking. 15 years! She had a good life.
They are family.....and it's a heart wrencing experience. Enjoy the memories. We're thing about you and your family Bill.
Bill, Sorry to read about your loss. To me, a dog part of the family (and many times my favorite family member). No matter how troublesome my day may have been at work, I know that when I get home, Lloyd will greet me with unrestrained joy and tell me in dog speak that he still thinks I am a great guy so long as I share part of my dinner with him. I totally share George's comments regarding the virtues of dogs and how deserving they are of our affection.
Bill, The site to which HH referred was The Rainbow Bridge. Someone pointed me there when our African Grey died. Sorry for your loss.
AJ, I'm sorry, I meant to acknowledge the site. I had heard of Rainbow Bridge before but didn't realize it was a site. Thanks Tom and all of you, I have to admit that I am having a much harder time of this than I thought. We have thought for a couple of years she might not make it that much longer, but when it happened it was still a shock. Thanks millions.
