These things run in cycles. The SEC would be better off to humbly accept these facts than to start boasting about them. All it takes is a few off seasons to let yourself in on the fact that you are not invincible.

I guess they are boasting about this year? While Alabama and Florida have been dominant....

-Georgia is a huge flop this year compared to preseason expectations. They were pummeled by both Florida and Alabama, while they were torched by instate rival Georgia Tech.

-Ole Miss can make an argument for being the 3rd best team in the conference was bested by Wake Forest (5th place in the ACC Atlantic Division), Vanderbilt, and South Carolina (more on the Cocks later). They did beat Florida in the Swamp and battled Alabama though. So those 'in house style points' in the SEC somehow erase the rest of it.

-Then you have mighty 7-5 LSU. They were BLASTED by Florida, Georgia and Ole Miss. They were also beaten by Alabama (no shame) and Arkansas (much shame).

After that, you have a great big bowl full of sh*tty with Vandy at 6-6, ranked ahead of 7-5 South Carolina (blasted by lowly Clemson), Tennessee, Arkansas and Auburn at 5-7, 6-6 Kentucky and 4-8 Miss State.

Ah Corey, it only becomes sweeter when you have to go to such lengths to put the SEC down. 8) 8)

I didn't have to go to any depths to show that two-thirds of this conference is absolutely miserable. Their numbers do that for themselves.

    That's one persons opinion.

But Corey, you do it with such gusto and frequency it has to be that you enjoy the exercise.

It has to be miserable living is SEC country when you hate them so bad??

Any way the article was about a lot of things other than the SEC being a tough conference.

Oh, on a off year we have two teams ranked 1 and 2 by the AP and Harris interactive and 1 and 4 with the Coaches poll and BCS. Not to shabby for such an off season.

The $$$$ the conference is going to be bringing in looks pretty good also.

I think that there's something wrong. How can a team like Fla. lose to a four loss team at home and still get to vie for the NC when a team like Texas loses to the No. 2 ranked team in the country on the road on the last play of the game and they don't even get a chance to play for their conference championship? One of those teams must be playing in a really stacked conference and it isn't Fla.

That's not a power conference, MCG has spent the last year calling a 2 pony race the Big 10....
It's the big money conference that Bill referred to :)
Not really... I will be pulling for an SEC team tomorrow...

Corey, I have to admit that I am totally shocked that you wouldn't be rooting for Florida. Good thing you clued me in.
Well gipper that's a decent question. Not a really good question but at least decent.

Maybe because the SEC had the good judgment to not stack their two best teams in the same division of their conference? That way we have the two best playing each other instead of one of them on the sidelines watching.

Ponder this, what happens if Missouri would happen to upset Oklahoma tomorrow? Then what team would play the winner of Florida and Alabama for the Championship? Texas? Texas Tech? USC?

Inquiring minds would like to know!

Really? Gee I seem to remember some pretty interesting matchups between Fla. and Tenn while the SEC west had nothing but dogs.

Well gipper a couple of things. First, my remark of course was not serious as to the judgment of the two conferences. Those things of course just happen.

But to your remark about the West in the SEC. You are right, and it's great that you keep up with the SEC, that there were a number of years in the SEC where Florida and Tennessee were they two premier teams in the conference.

However the most frequent visitor from the West during that time was Alabama. From the time the SEC playoff started in 92 until 96 Alabama and Florida played four of those 5 times. Alabama reached the game undefeated in 92 and 93, winning the 92 game and then the National Championship. Florida and Alabama met again in 99 with Alabama winning.

So here's the breakdown of the SEC Championships the first 8 years we had the playoffs, from 92 - 99. Florida won 4, Tennessee won 2 and Alabama won 2. Florida appeared 6 times and Tennessee appeared 2 times from the East. Alabama appeared 5 times from the West with I think Arkansas, Auburn and Miss State appearing the other three. This is from memory so I am not sure about the Auburn and Miss State ones but am pretty sure about Miss State.

So if KP is reading this and since his Alabama team appeared 5 times out of the 8 years you are calling the teams that represented the West dogs, I'll let you explain your logic to him about the Dogs of the East, it escapes me.

By the way, let me say for the record that Texas got screwed, it just has nothing to do with Florida.

Anyone can call my team anything they want as long as it ends in SEC Champ, and/or National Champ.
