There are sure legitimate reasons for thinking someone besides Tebow deserves the Heisman.

But the he hasn't performed in a big game yet sure isn't one of them. The Gators are 11-1 and playing Sat for a likely spot in the Championship game. Without Tebow we would not be in this position.

    Here's my serve Huskerman.

Florida just set a record for the number of straight games we have scored 40 or more points. Tebow is the motor behind that production.

I guess we should hold it against him that the Gator Defense has played well enough that the games haven't been close.

We are 11 - 1. Only one team that is in competition for the BCS Championship and has done better. How in the world you can downplay our QB because we have won one sided games is beyond me.

I sure remember some Nebraska teams that did that and some great players that you supported, even a Heisman or so.

I don't get this argument of yours at all.

Well Bill, I didn't really consider it an argument to begin with. I made a statement IRT Tebow as to why I don't consider him as much of a canditate as the others. Obviously you felt I was alarmingly close to the international waters boundry, and decided to send a round over my bow.

So in the interest of world peace in SkyBox land, I'll retract my statement about the "Knock on Tebow" for now.

Actually my statement was just my opinion based on watching games this year and forming my own personal thoughts on which canditate has actually been tested in the football season this year. I'm not much of a "research the stats" kind of guy (I mostly get a feeling in the guts), so I based my post on my observations of ESPN Game Day locations, rank of teams at time of match, the current rank of the teams played at the time of this post, and the current BCS rankings. This is what I believe to be the separation between them and anyone else in the running.

IMO Tebow hasn't faced the level of talent these guys have matched up against this season, or has had to go thru the Pre-game Hype that can effect the individuals performance.

I don't know the answer at the time of typing this, but I would guess that both OU and TEX have a higher SOS rating at this point in time than FLA does.

So I guess if somebody can convince me that Tebow has been tested by opposition and pre-game challenges equal to or above what I feel the others have, I'll continue to feel confident that my 2 cents worth is still worth 2 cents.

As stated before, I'll be very interested in seeing how he does this Sat.

AJ, first let me say that I used the word argument only in th context meaning discussion. So let's withdraw my use of the argument statement and just say I don't understand your reasoning.

It was not meant to be a shot across your bow, but a simple statement that I can't see how you can use that as a reason for Tebow not winning the Heisman. In reality every game since the Ole Miss game has been a do or die game for the Gators and Tebow.

I also have to agree with your as far as strength of schedule not being in the Gators favor right now. After Sat we will see.

I also said that I didn't think Tebow would win the Heisman and that most likely Bradford will. I am fine with that even though I would take Tebow before any of the other QB's. I will also say that if I couldn't have Tebow I would be most happy with any of Bradford, McCoy or Harrell.

So since both our opinions are worth 2 cents let's just agree for us to both have our opinion. :)

I hope you guys destroy Clemson in the Gator Bowl. That may not be an easy game though. They have underperformed for their talent all year long until their last game. I hope you take them to the woodshed.

Gotcha Bill... (After the treaty was signed, the two leaders then stand and embrace each other with a firm handshake and shoulder pats)

    Wendy LOL!!

Rick, I forgot about that picture!

Give me some credit guys and gals! You know, 10 years ago I would've threatned to burn down his shack, shoot all his livestock and then pick a fight with him. Looking back at those days, I was kind of an asshole wasn't I?

Turning 40+ has done something to me...

After the treaty has been signed, let me sneak a shot in.

    Bill,

I have to agree with the other side of this discussion for one main reason. See if it makes sense to you and correct me if I'm wrong.

You stated that your defense was stron enough to keep the scores from being close. Tebow does not play defense. Therefore, your defense is a strike against Tim.

The heisman is supposed to go the the MVP for lack of a better term. This year, your defense is more deserving of the heisman than Tim is. Tim doesn't have the numbers he had last year. He hasn't needed them. The rest of his offense grew around him.

This is not a shot at Tebow, nor the Gators. I truely believe the Gators would be exactly where they are right now without Tebow. That, does not a heisman make.

AJ, you were always a man of strong opinions, however I have always enjoyed talking with you even back to the old Prodigy days when Nebraska killed the Gators.

But I would agree that a lot of us change after we turn 40! Then 50! Then 60!

Tom I don't expect Tebow to win the Heisman this year because his numbers are down. However it hasn't always been the guy with the bigger numbers that wins.

Regardless my point wasn't about his numbers but his performing in a meaningful game. We lost our only close game this year but are pretty much where we wanted to be when the year started, in contention for the BCS Championship game.

Like I said, I see four guys who could win with Harrell being the longest shot and Tebow perhaps the next longest.

I would not be shocked to see Tebow win however.

Tom makes a good point .... epsecially if UF was winning games by an average score of 20-12. So, one must consider Tebow's impact when you see that UF is winning games by an average score of 46-12 ..... and the impact he had on his team post Ole Miss loss.

Some Tebow stats 2008 vs Heisman year:

    Passing Efficiency:
    2007: 172.5 (2nd)
    2008: 175.5 (5th)

    Yards per attempt:
    2007: 9.38 (1st)
    2008: 9.35 (5th)

    TD percentage:
    2007: 9.14 (2nd)
    2008: 10.16 (3rd)

    INT percentage:
    2007: 1.71 (8th)
    2008: 0.81 (2nd)

    TD:INT ratio
    2007: 5.3:1
    2008: 12.5:1

That's an interesting comparison. I'm not surprised that he is playing better than last year. I don't recall in my lifetime such a closeness among four players, much less four QBs, in terms of their raw stats and how much they meant to their teams' successes. No matter who wins, there will be a legitimate debate among their fans on who should have won.

I'm starting a campaign for Jonathan Crompton. You can win it for being the MVP for the opposition can't you!?!? :? :? :?

Hey AJ, we "former" assholes must stick together and show the world that we can change..........sort of.

P.S. You defended me and my family for many years, so as far as I'm concerned you get a free pass. Me? That's another story.

Hey guys even the year when I got to know AJ and the Huskers gave Florida one of the worst beatings we every got and AJ was in a zone of his own I figured out that below that surface was a pretty nice guy!

I probably shouldn't tell him that though.

On the Heisman front I will make this statement and commitment, they all deserve it so I'm not going to make a lot of noise if my guy doesn't win. Heck he's won once already and hey he's a special guy to have around and that's a reward in it's self.
