Urban Meyer still thinks about Notre Dame.

Bill I have no doubt that Meyers offense would work for the Irish. I thought the SEC coaches like Fulmer, Richt, etc would eat him up ...but it's been the other way around. In my mind the top 5 coaches right now are in no particlular order.

Urban Meyer, Pete Carroll, Jim Tressel, Nick Satan (sorry kp!) and a tie between Mack Brown and Bob Stoops.

Give me any of those guys in South Bend and I'll be happy, that is I'll be happy till they lose a game! :)

That's a pretty good list Terry, but where is Bobby Bowden?

I want to make one very emphatic point in reference to Terry's extensive comments and Corey's assertion that a "large chunk" of ND fans have negative feelings against Myer.

I don't doubt that there are fans who feel that way, but I also don't for a New York minute feel that the views in this topic attributed to ND fans by Terry and Corey are those of the majority of ND fans. In point of fact, they are the collective opinions only of those who take the time to express them on internet forums. Indeed this is a miniscule percentage of ND fans throughout the country. It makes for spirited conversation on this board and others, but that's the extent of it.

Then again, this is an opinion forum, so let it flow. Just don't judge the majority by the words of a vocal few.

Sid you and Lou Holtz are on the same page. He said on Sports Center that he thought Charlie could get it done and supported him. He looked pained when he said it but he didn't take a negative tack towards Charlie.

    Terry,
Saban seems to suffer colateral damage whenever the subject of coaching moves come up. Hell, LSU fans hate Saban, not for leaving for the NFL but for going to Alabama years later. Oh well, it's kind of a back handed compliment I guess. If he wasn't winning so much no one would care.

kp ...right you are and if Saban jumped from Bama to ND and started winning games I'd be his biggest fan!!

Sid, you are do right about internet posting and the real majority of fans.

I somewhat misunderstood Terry's post yesterday and at first I got the feeling that those were his thoughts. Just goes to show I need to read closer sometimes.

Oh I think you'd be surprised. I am not limiting my opinion to the whack job at ND Nation.

I'm talking about people at game watches here, most of whom do not use NDNation.

Perhaps I am off-base, but the next group of ND fans that I run into in which a majority does not have a problem with Urban Meyer... will be the first.

I'd hire the guy...and FTR, I don't begrudge him for doing all he can for Florida.

Well, I don't know if Meyer will ever go to ND ... or if he's even welcome but, I suspect he wouldn't stand for this:

Hey!! I remember posting that story yesterday...

and then mentioning it again in the discussion with Sid and George....

but you are right, it is something that shouldn't happen.

There are students in the various boards right now claiming that media is really taking out of context and that they were throwing snow balls at police and NBC staff, but IMHO that point is moot.

The fact is, it happened and now the perception is out there..Regardless of the reality.. the players certainly felt like it.

Speaking of things Urban should be dealing with...

What is going on with Cam Newton? Urban seemed really shocked by this.

FWIW Corey, I didn't see your previous comments on this matter as I don't make it a point to read all of your posts. Usually, I won't even read an ND-realted thread but did this thread since it dealt with the current UF coach.

But het, let's see if Meyer will "stand for" the behavior in which Newton has alledgedly/probably engaged. BTW .... see my comment from yesterday re Meyer's concern with his 2009 QB depth. Seems to be out of character for Newton but, ya never know what a person will do ......

I am betting the Meyer tosses the kid if a few things work out one way or the other..

He is suspended right now while he's in jail, so I guess he's already got one foot out the door.

I saw that Meyer booted another kid off the team for beating, choking and smothering his girlfriend this month. While I don't think the laptop theft is as bad as battering/trying to kill someone, I think it would be nice if more coaches dug in.

    And now this nonsense:

    http://cfn.scout.com/2/816036.html

I have lived in Gainesville during the winter and I have traveled to South Bend during the winter.

    S. Bend is a pit compared to Gainesville.

Notre Dame is great campus but the rest of the area wasn't all that terrific.

If Meyer were to get divorced....I could see it.

I met his wife in the elevator in Lexington and she is a legitimate tanned beautiful blonde who just doesn't look like she would move from sunny Florida to frozen S. Bend.

Certainly there are no tanned beauties in South Bend. You know, I'd wager there just isn't one tanned beauty anywhere in the world except Gainsville. So it is in Dave's world.

    (1) How did you know it was her on the elevator?

    (2) Who struck up the conversation?

    (3) What did you talk about?

He knows her so well that he pretends to be able to speak of her desires for a place to live but has to THINK she is from Ohio.

Give it up for Shelley. She knows how to dress to the level of her audience...

I wonder if she owned a jean skirt prior to moving to G-ville. I mean, other than when she was a kid.

One of the big uglies ( OL Jim Tartt ) was on the elevator as well and this hot looking MILF ( with a small cooler I might add ) starts asking him how is his ankle...is he going to be OK...etc...etc... and I thought sounds more like a coach's wife than just a concerned fan so I says....."you must be Shelley Meyer"....to which she responded...."yes...I am" and she thrust out her hand which I shook and then we small talked about the game with Kentucky coming up that day. It was cool....especially since I ran into coach Meyer in the hallway the night before and was able to congratulate him on the Tenn win the week before....
