For Finalist for the Wooden Citizenship Cup. If you don't know what it's all about here's the definition:

Announcing the 5th Annual
Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup
Presented by
Athletes for a Better World
John Wooden, one of the greatest coaches and positive role models in the history of the NCAA,
has given ABW permission to present an award in his name. The Coach Wooden Citizenship
Cup is presented to two distinguished athletes from any sport – one intercollegiate and one
professional – that best display character, teamwork, and citizenship, the attributes Athletes for a
Better World deems central to transforming individuals, sport, and society. The award
establishes the recipients as athletes of excellence both on and off the field, role models both as
performers and persons, the most important and distinctive honor athletes can achieve.
The mission of Athletes for a Better World (ABW) is to use sports to develop character,
teamwork, and citizenship through commitment to an athletic Code for Living (printed on page
2) that applies to all of life, and to create a movement that will play a significant role in the
transformation of individuals, sports, and society.
All aspects of The Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup are managed by the Coach Wooden
Citizenship Cup Committee, chaired by former University of Georgia Athletic Director Vincent
Dooley and composed of selected members of the National Board, the Athletic Advisory Board,
and other special members. The Committee acts on policies governing the nominating, selection,
and awarding of the Cup.
In order to be nominated for the Coach Wooden Citizenship Cup, the athlete must exemplify the
values of the Code:
• Train with a disciplined, consistent work ethic
• Demonstrate fair play and sportsmanship
• Develop positive supportive relationships with teammates and coaches
• Win or lose with grace and dignity
• Contribute significantly to society through the gifts of time or money
The Cup will be presented at the Ansley Golf Club in Atlanta early in 2009.
On behalf of Athletes for a Better World, we solicit nominations from your team, institution,
and/or league. Please use the Nomination Form on pages 3 & 4 and return no later than
November 10, 2008 to the email address Wooden@abw.org. Communication with the voters is
done via email, and so if you wish to include newsprint articles, letters, or any other information,
please attach them as a PDF file. Please do not send videos as some colleges are not able to
produce such, and we wish to keep a level playing field! Thank you!

I'm certain that Gator Bill and MCG probably didn't follow the above and stuffed the ballot box for Tim Tebow!! :wink: :wink:

Here were the Finalists and SemiFinalists.

Finalists for the collegiate division are Ryan Adler (Hobart College, ice hockey), Andrew Berry (Harvard, football), Lauren Mioton (Purdue, basketball), Tim Tebow (Florida, football), Rob Whiting (Vanderbilt, cross country).

The semifinalists were Jenny Barringer (Colorado, cross country/track and field), Amanda Blumenhurst (Duke, golf), Jenny Brine (Harvard, ice hockey), Ian Campbell (Kansas State, football), Mamadou Diene (Baylor, basketball), Raymond Jordan (Missouri, wrestling), Jeff Lerg (Michigan State, ice hockey), Tim Masthay, Kentucky, football), Brandon McArthur (Florida, baseball), Gerald McCoy (Oklahoma, football), Adrienne Mills (Auburn, gymnastics), Brianna O'Donnell (North Carolina, field hockey), Elizabeth Quinley (Michigan Tech, cross country, nordic skiing, track and field), Maxwell Seibald (Cornell, lacrosse), Matt Van Zandt (Texas A&M, golf) and Brett Winkelman (North Dakota State, basketball).

I'm pretty sure Tebow just barely edged out Van Zandt for the 4th Finalist slot. As I said I'm suspicous of Gator Bill and MCG!! :wink:
