Suddenly our loss to Ole Miss isn't looking that bad. They are taking LSU to the woodshed and their 4 losses were by a total of 19 points if I heard right.

It is shocking. LSU should have lost to Troy last week, they just aren't a very good football team.

Ole Miss is probably heading for the Cotton Bowl so I think we can quit hearing about what a crappy loss Florida had to them.

An off day...a blocked x-tra point and UF loses by one point to a Cotton Bowl bound team. A loss isn't great but it wasn't that bad of a loss.

kp, hey don't get the idea I am discounting Alabama. Not at all, if you guys win out you are in, period.

However if the Gators win out we could end up with two Big 12 teams in the BCS Championship.

If both make it though next week and the Tide beats the Gators in two weeks I will be pulling for you in the final. If we win it's not for sure we get in.

It was 2 mediocre SEC teams playing, LSU being the more mediocre of the 2. Neither is a good team this year.

whoa... because 2 sh*tty teams played each other (and as an ND fan, I know sh*tty football), how does one all of a sudden become a good team??

If you start with the premise that all SEC teams are top 25 worthy and any SEC team could beat any team from any of the other conferences ...then it's easy.

Bill.....the only way two Big 12 teams play for the BCS championship is if Fla loses to FSU and beats Bama or Bama loses to Auburn and beats Fla.

That's the way it should be, I'd be against a Texas/OU rematch.

I'm against two teams from the same conference also. However there is a real possibility that between Texas and Oklahoma that the one that does not win the Big 12 still does well enough in the computer polls to make it to the finals if Florida beats Alabama.

    MCG, don't dismiss that possibility.

The SEC winner against the Big 12 winner is what i would like to see of course.

USC is kind of odd man out in this situation and the last minute field goal by Oregon State today leaves them one win short of the Rose Bowl.

FSU did UF a small favor by winning tonight vs. Md.

If Fla can beat FSU and Bama in consecutive weeks that will wrap it up for the Gators because I think the human polls will have them #1 if they do that and they would jump an idle Texas in the computer polls on the Sat. that they play Bama.

    Bill,
I understand what you are saying, my point is y'all can't have it both ways. Either the loss to Ole Miss was a fluke or Ole Miss is not such a bad team. Alabama beat them, so by the same token either Alabama beat a bad team that got lucky against Florida or Alabama beat a pretty good team. See my point, the Florida loss is discounted and so is the Alabama win. The real good news is (much to Corey's chagrin) we get to settle this on the field in a couple of weeks.

    So true kp.

I think that it's very unusual for a team to get through the regular season unbeaten. As of now only Alabama, Utah and Boise State are in that position and teams that can win the BCS Championship, only Alabama is in the position to go unbeaten.

We lost to Ole Miss who in my opinion looks better than they did earlier in the season. they easily could have been a one or two loss team.

Even if we beat Bama that loss may haunt us.

I'm curious from Terry and Corey what they think if Texas Tech right now. That was some beating that Oklahoma laid on them and I have to wonder now just how good they are?

I think OU hit the perfect storm last night and once they got rolling they couldn't be stopped. I think the game would have been entirely different if they had been playing in Lubbock. I still think Tech is a top 10 team right now, OU just put it all together at the right time last night.

Bama did have a good win over Ole Miss....a much better win than that 17-14 squeaker over....Kentucky.....who Florida killed 63-5.

You see....every team has the chance for an off week.

Ole Miss lost some very close ones....almost beat Bama and did beat UF and LSU.

The Rebs are not a bad team and I don't think they are just an average team either.

    MCG,
I will take 3 more 1 point wins this year. Then Florida can compete with Oklahoma and USC for the "Margin of Victory" trophy and Alabama will have to settle for the crystal one. 8)

Terry, the big question for Texas is does Oklahoma get by Texas in the BCS poll? And if not who is 3rd, Florida or Oklahoma?

So far only the Sagarin poll is out and he has, elo chess which is the BCS version, Texas, Texas Tech, Alabama, Utah, Oklahoma and Florida as the first seven.

I'm rooting for Oklahoma State to take care of Oklahoma.

This week I think the human polls will have this:

    1. Bama
    2. Florida
    3. Oklahoma
    4. Texas

I think the computer polls will have:

    1. Bama
    2. Texas
    3. Oklahoma
    4. Florida

I think the BCS will be the same as the computer polls.

But this week is not a week to go on.

After next week I think Oklahoma beats OkSt and moves ahead of Texas by a smidge in all polls....as unfairly as that may be.

If Florida can beat FSU and Bama it will be a final BCS ranking of:

    1. Florida
    2. Okla
    3. Texas

Texas only plays A&M to finish out their schedule because I think Okla nudges them ever so slightly out of the Big 12 title game.

The real controversy here is not whether or not UF should be in over Texas but rather why Texas doesn't get into the Big 12 title game over Oklahoma. That failure is what dooms Texas to the Sugar Bowl playing either Florida or Bama.
