FFS... If they put 10 men in the box, you throw the ball!!

If they stack 8 in the box on 1st down, you throw the ball.

If they show 8 and drop 4 of them, you run the draw...

    dammit!!

Heeeey look at that. We throw the ball downfield and we get a TD. Who da thunk it?

BTW-NBC is the worst 'home' coverage in college football.

The respective networks all 'homer' to an extent to their respective contracts and that is to be expected...except for ours...

Yeah they were all over that TD catch calling it offensive pass interference. Granted in real time it looked like it might be, but they were shouting with glee.

Great throw by Clausen and great comeback to the ball by Tate.

Huh? Are we watching and listening to two different games? I did not sense that at all. This announcing team is OK, not great, but to say they suck.....Well....I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.

    Sid,

I've endured this for years but at least I know have an audience of football fans who watch games with me here who aren't ND fans. Even they laugh at our announcing crew.

When the play first happened, they were hooting for offensive PI. Then on the replay, they retract quietly. This isn't an isolated incident. I've long hated our announcing team, but like you said... in the eye of the beholder.

    Terry,

I wouldn't tolerate that and i can't believe ND fans are sitting there letting that happen.

BTW-you are correct... Eric, Greg.... the twins...whatever.. I just want an Olsen to block someone for us

Also NBC...I love learning about players on the other team...What about ND??? Plus announcers are terrible!

It's like watching a hs football team way too much

Pathetic to lose to Syracuse. This offense pissed away the game, to have the ball 2x at the 20 yd line and come away with no points is just pathetic.

One thing for sure if you thought the problem with the offense was Haywoods play calling you can forget that, Charlies play calling wasn't any better.

I know he won't get fired this year, and maybe even as bad as this second half of the season has turned he should get another year. But I'm off his bandwagon at this point. He's going to have to prove to me he can actually be a good head coach, unfortuneately I'll have to wait till the bowl game because there is no way that we can hold USC to less than a 40 point blowout.

Gator Bowl is gone, Cotton Bowl is gone, and I doubt the Sun Bowl will give us an invite after we get beat 45-0 by USC.

He's going to have to work overtime to hold on to the players he's recruited so far this year. While I don't expect wholesale defections, I expect a couple of the higher profile players to reconsider unless Charlie does some big time talking.

I'd be ok if he resigned and moved back to New England and worked for the Patriots.

Guys, I can only say I'm stunned and don't blame you guys for you negative thoughts. I was going back and forth from Ole Miss and LSU and the Notre Dame game.

    When Notre Dame goes ahead 23 - 10 I figure it's over.

Then with 2nd down at the 40 and needing a field goal to ice the win I don't understand going long. Two shorter plays uses more clock and makes the field goal easier.

    It's a stunner.

<r>O.K I'm going to step up and take it like a man.....after watching that game I will now admit I have been wrong about Charlie Weis. I thought I could give him another year but the game today has thrown me over the edge now. CW IS NOT THE COACH WE NEED AT ND. Yes, he has plenty of good points but it is more than obvious to even the stongest supporters(me in particular) that he is not a good DIV 1 college football coach. It's sad because that game alone will have some far reaching implications beyond just being a loss. It was a TERRIBLE loss. <br/>
    <br/>
I'm just hoping now that somehow we can keep the kids in the current recruiting class and avoid a mass exodus via transfer ala Michigan. CW needs to do the right thing now and admit he is over his head here and resign. <br/>
    <br/>
How could I ever have been so foolish to keep believing in him? <E:mad:</E></r>

I was about to ask if anyone was still on the Weis bandwagon. I hope not after this virtuoso performance.

I found myself rooting forSyracuse on that last drive because I haven't seen that kind of emotion in a team in a long, long time.

We should be ashamed if we accept any kind of bowl invite. Th extra practice dodge doesn't apply here because there is nothing constructive this staff can teach these guys at this point.

    1. I disagree about turning down a bowl invite. Such hubris and vanity played part in the demise of this program.
    2. If Weis is back next year, the offensive staff has to be fired.
    3. Other than that Mrs Lincoln, how was the play?

    f*ck

If Weis is not fired then they absolutely have to go to a bowl game, even if it's the game here in Houston or the Humanitarian game in Boise. They need the practice time, swallow your pride and buck it up.

If Weis is fired after the USC game, then I question going to a very low level game is of much benefit. The team would be coached by a skelton crew and likely wouldn't learn anything.

<t>I agree with Terry and Corey on the bowl game issue. If Weis isn't fired after the USC game then they need to take a bowl game somewhere.</t>
