Irish should have good teams on both the mens and ladies sides. Irish men beat some team called USC-upstate, and the Irish ladies beat LSU at LSU which is impressive to me. Texas ladies are in their 2nd year with the former Dookie coach who's name I can't spell opened with a win over St. Mary's and play Old Dominion next. B12 women's is loaded and we aren't one of the top teams to open the season. Texas men are a top 10 team and the B12 has a lot of good teams. Longhorns return 4 starters and 9 or their top 10 scorers so we should be very good. We beat Stetson to open the season. It's possilbe for Texas and Notre Dame to meet in the Maui Classic and the Longhorn schedule contains some good non-conf games with Michigan State, Villanova, and UCLA amongst others. Hey Jif who are your final 4 choices?
Gators won two games over the weekend in some minor tournament, the last one over Bradley. I haven't looked much at the rankings so far but do know that North Carolina is ranked number one, Notre Dame is in the top 10 and I don't think that any SEC team is ranked in the top 10 with Tennessee probably ranked the highest around 15 or so. I'll get tuned in more after the football season is over.
T..havent got my final 4 yet...however...yesterday at that NUT HOUSE at Duke...URI ALMOST pulled the upset of the century!! They lead by 10 points near the end and lost by 3!!
VMI knocked off Kentucky in Lexington over the weekend. I would imagine the natives are getting restless at UK.
I don't wish anything bad on Billy G, but if things don't work out for him... I won't be crushed. The Aggies are somewhat in rebuild mode this year. We have some great recruits coming, but there's no way to replace the two senior leaders we lost from the '08 team. I think we'll be a tourney team, but probably not continue our streak of 3 straight first round wins. Our ladies are loaded, and should contend for a long postseason run.
Kentucky goes to UNC tonight. I'm sure if UNC takes them to school on Nat'l TV then there will be much unhappiness in Lexington.
Well UNC, without star Tyler Hansborough, routed Kentucky last night... I'll bet there is doubt in Lexington that Billy G is the man.
I suspect Billy's "system" isn't going over too well with the blue chips of Kentucky. He is fanatical about defense, and drives his players VERY hard in practice. It's easy to get buy-in from a buch of nobody's who are used to losing. Not so much with kids that are more used to being "managed" than coached and driven. BG is a great coach, but he may not be a good fit for Kentucky.
How about this for a game. Texas Tech 167 East Central Oklahoma 116 I wonder if this is an omen for Sat's night Tech vs Okalhoma game? Texas Tech shot 67-113 (59.3%) EC Oklahoma shot 37-94 (39.4%)
The real question is how the hell did a team coached by Bob Knight's son participate in a game like that? I bet the old man was watching the action in absolute horror!
Well for the first time since 2002 I will be caught between Notre Dame and Texas. The Irish square off against Texas in the Maui Invitational. The last time this happened was in 2002 in some preseason classic in DC. The Irish beat a very good Texas team that day rather decisively. I hope the same thing happens today!! In my lifetime I have not had the ND/UT conflict of interest come up very much. Football 1970,71,77 Cotton Bowls, 1995 and 1996 Regular season games. I can't really think of any ND baseball, matchups, I can't remember if ND women in soccer and basketball have played UT. Glad it doesn't happen very often.
Irish edge Texas tonight. Would have been an easy win if they could have hit their free throws down the stretch. UNC up next. Big East is going to extremely tough this year, Irish are good but maybe only the 4th best team in the conference.
