OOOHHH RRRAAAHHHHH!!! LIEUTENANT GENERAL LEWIS BURWELL "CHESTY" PULLER Not 1, not 2, but 5 Navy Crosses. The whole story goes that he finished that statement by saying, "Now we can shoot in any direction".
Here's another great CHESTY story... In 1950, then Colonel Puller, was establishing his gun positions (Puller was a Artillery man by Trade) in Korea. An Army unit was attached to his Battalion. The unit was commanded by an Army Major. After getting his units grid positions, the Major turned to Col Puller and asked what the line of retreat was. "I'm glad you asked me that Major, just 1 minute and I'll give you the answer". Col Puller then picked up the field phone and contacted the FTO and gave them the location of the Majors gun placements, he then ordered the FTO to open fire on the Majors unit should they see them pull back even 1 inch. The Col then hung up the phone, looked the Major dead square in the eyes and said, "Does that answer your question Major"?
Congratulations AJ on your lifelong association with the finest example in the world of character, discipline, and good old-fashioned hard-ass fighting for us.
According to Emeril Ingredients * 1 stick unsalted butter, softened * 2 cups light brown sugar * 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon * 1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg * Pinch ground cloves * Pinch salt * Bottle dark rum * Boiling water Directions In a bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt. Refrigerate until almost firm. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the butter mixture into 12 small mugs. Pour about 3 ounces of rum into each mug (filling about halfway). Top with boiling water (to fill the remaining half), stir well, and serve immediately.
Since we derive from the British Royal Marines, I think I'll go with this one. English Harbour 5 Year Old Rum I'm not much of a Rum guru, but I do prefer dark over light or spiced.
Happy Veteran's day to all veteran's, especially AJ. Happy 233 to the marines. Thanks AJ for your service and the song.
