UF has beaten the daylights out of two teams ranked in the top 10 at the time....Ga and LSU.

Then there is the matter of a team ranked as high as they can be ranked...
#1 Alabama. If UF can beat the Tide that is the deciding factor and that is the reason Florida has the edge for the title game.

Dude, that's like claiming victory for dating a girl before she got ugly.

Except in this case, the girl was always ugly.

Texas is ranked higher than UF in virtually every offensive category and has beaten the stuffing out of lots of teams and did not lose at home to a team like Ole Miss.

Remains to be seen how Texas would do vs. LSU and Georgia because the Horns never travel south.... :D

In any event LSU and Georgia are pretty decent teams.

How do we know how good Oklahoma is.....last I saw they were getting their butts handed to em by W Va....and their defense has given up 177 points in just FIVE games...an average of over 35 ppg!

In the same 5 game span Texas has given up 144 points.....28 ppg...

    What is that....the old WAC?

A little geography lesson for you there scooter... Austin is further South than either of those two teams. To go South, the Horns would have to play Mexico University!!!

Well I wonder how the Gators would do if they had to play 4 top 10 teams in a row 2 at home and 2 on the road.

Here's the deal, I'm not for the BCS game being a rematch of the Texas/Texas Tech game. Just like I wasn't for a rematch of the Ohio State/Mich game a few years ago.

But I'm just saying that Texas has a good claim to being a better team than UF based on the on the field results. We did not lose to a team like Ole Miss at home. We lost to a great team on the road in a very hostile environment not the comforts of home. I'll give the Gators their due, they are a great team. If you guys lose to Bama and Texas doesn't end up in the B12 champ game. I'd love to see the Gators on the field in a bowl with Texas. We know how to cook gator tail here in Texas have quite a crop of them in South East Texas! :)

Hey how about this for lack of justice!! If UF and Bama Stumble before the SECCG, Tech loses to OU, OU loses to Ok State, Texas loses to A&M, Tech loses in the B12 Champ game and USC keeps winning. USC ends up as one of the teams in BCS game. Even though they won't be conference champions, Oregon State will be PAC10 champs!! How about them apples!! :)

I hate to inject some data into this, but I gotta.

None of the defenses in the Big 12 look very good.
Would anyone suppose the fact that 8 of the top 25 scoring offenses in Div 1 are from the B12 might have something to do with that?

As a matter of fact, 5 of the top 6 are from the Big 12.

How many do you suppose are from the SEC???

That would be one: Florida comes in at # 7, and is the SEC's only entry.
So... it's not so hard for your defenses to look good when no one has an offense to threaten them...

I think Florida is certainly worthy to play in the champ game, but several other schools are equally worthy.
That's the problem with this crappy system!

It looks to me that the most likely BCS Champ. teams will be the "winner" of the Big 12 south and the winner of the SEC Champ. Forget the current rankings. If OK beats TT than the B12 south champ. will get an extra game to boost it's position probably into the NC game.

.....I don't think that particular logical construction helps your cause much at all......I could be wrong, but I don't think so!

I haven't been able to watch UF since Ole Miss beat them at home. It's my last image of the Gators!! :)

And actually it was a pretty close game between OU and WVa. :)

Terry...I'll fill you in with a little help from College Football News:

"Florida is unstoppable at the moment because Tim Tebow has taken his game up to another level. He’s getting time to throw and is getting a little room to move, and now he’s not afraid to start running a bit more, and harder, than he did earlier in the year, but that doesn’t mean the rest of his weapons aren’t getting work. Six players saw carries in the blowout over Vandy, and seven players caught passes. The Gators did what a national title-caliber team is supposed to do against a team like Vanderbilt, and now it gets a pesky South Carolina team in The Swamp. Win that in a blowout and it’ll really be time to get fired up."

    Last 5 games....outscoring the opposition by 243-57: (avg. 48-11)

    Oct. 4 at Arkansas W 38-7
    Oct. 11 LSU W 51-21
    Oct. 25 Kentucky W 63-5
    Nov. 1 Georgia (Jack.) W 49-10
    Nov. 8 at Vanderbilt W 42-14

Scoff if you will.....demean it....whatever....but Florida has been taking no prisoners in the SEC in their last 5 games.

Just to be sure I'm clear Fla is one of the top teams right there with Texas, Oklahoma, etc. But still they haven't played 4 top 10 teams in a row like Texas did and they lost at home to Ole Miss. Gives Texas a slight edge. 8)

Texas did manage to win 3 of those....not 4 and now Mizzou could lose a third game for sure in the Big 12 title game and be no better than 20th or so.

Likewise OU's defense could be a loose sieve vs. Tex Tech and they could lose 55-51.....don't laugh....might happen.

Then OU would be no better than 15th or so and where is Okla St today and where might they be after another loss to OU?

So then you compare LSU and Georgia to those three and see how that shakes out but....throw in FSU, Sou Car and #1 Bama and Fla has the right mix of opponents to go all the way past Texas.

see...... you do stuff like this Dave...

Now you toss that out there to 'bring down' the level of competition that Texas has played. Meanwhile, you use the following lineup
to establish how 'dominant' you have become.

That is, on paper and grass, 3 tomato cans, an average team and a good team. Your numbers would be all the more impressive if Kentucky and Georgia not dropped a 42-38 game on each other. Vanderbilt has totally fallen apart, but even they managed to beat Ole Miss (unlike the Gators).

I mean really... You're going to put that list on panty waist up there to back your claim while trashing the 4 game run of Texas this year...

Unreal.. then again, you're the one who thinks the Ole Miss game shouldn't count against you.

Last year members of that group and some others from the conference managed 7 bowl wins...an NCAA record for one conference.

I personally don't think the Big 12 plays very good defense.

I am pretty sure the SEC plays good defense in spite of the Ky-Ga shootout.

I know that Florida plays excellent defense.

I know that Alabama plays excellent defense.

I also know that Florida has scored a whole ton of points this season averaging 48 ppg in the last 5 games against real defenses.....not old WAC type defenses.

But hey....like you said....I think the SEC will get a chance to prove on the field what I am saying so we won't have to speculate.

Who could refute such logic as when UF scores 48 points it's against good defenses, but when Texas scores 48 points it's against bad defenses.

Geez it's funny how the rest of us are "demeaning" to the MCG point of view, and you are the gracious lord of all that is good and right.

The Big 12 doesn't play great defense, however as I tried to point out before with some STATS, that is mainly thanks to some insane offenses.

The SEC does play good defense. However, they don't seem to know a damned thing about offense (with the exception of Florida).

To echo what Corey was saying (only a little more directly):

    Arkansas - SUX
    Kentucky - SUX
    Vanderbilt - SUX

Even so... if UF wins out they will play in the champ game against a 0/1 loss Big 12 champ.

If the XII stumbles at the end and somehow sends a 2 loss team out, I suspect USC will jump in the mix.

I don't think we'll see a non-champ in the game even though it isn't expressly against the rules.
