Joakim Noah is the son of Yannick (sp?) Noah, the French pro tennis player who was highly ranked and very well-known during his career. He had a flair for acrobatic shots, like returning a volley between his legs with his back to the net. I know from comments made during the NCAAs that he won the French Open. I don't know much else about his career. I also learned during the tournament that his mother, a Swede, was a runnerup in the 1978 Miss Universe contest. I don't recall hearing during the tournament what Joakim's citizenship is, French or American. I'm guessing it's French.
Noah's Dad Yannick is also a big music star now! Yannic Noah I knew who his dad is, but didn't realize he was a pop star until recently. He must make a lot of money as a singer because I heard an announcer say that his dad has already made more money than Joakim could ever make in the NBA, even as a number 1 pick.
