What a nice ending to a "unique" World Series, weather-wise. Two great stories here.....Of course, the Phillies winning their second-ever world championship, but also the Rays meteoric rise from the ashes. I really like both managers. The Rays sure have a bright future.

I'm happy for ND's Brad Lidge. A perfect 41 for 41 saves during the regular season and 7 for 7 in the post season. He currently is baseball's premier closer. Well deserved.

The Phillies sure deserved it. I can tell you that the whole Delaware Valley is going nuts over it. The parade is scheduled for tomorrow. I doubt if much work will get done tomorrow. :)

I was quietly rooting for the Phillies, and am happy to see them win. It's nothing against the Rays - I respect Maddon and admire the talent on the team - but Rays fans need to suffer through a World Series loss or two before they'll be able to fully appreciate what winning the whole shebang truly means.

I couldn't believe it when Madden did not come out right away with that left handed flame thrower to start the resumed game. What was he saving him for?

He was worried about Game 6 while he was getting ousted in Game 5.

Actually, George, I don't have a problem with the way Maddon managed the short game. The LH flamethrower you refer to is one year removed from college and has been used only in the late innings. If I'm the manager I don't want to put him in the role of starter - which is really what it was - for the first time in his young career in such a pressure situation. I think he used his pitchers wisely. IMO the Rays didn't lose.....The Phillies won. There's a difference. That's baseball. Avid fans of the game like you and me can agree to disagree on any number of plays and moments in that game and the entire series. Too bad we can't get together and sit around the hot stove and have this conversation.

    Sid,

The Phillies deserved to win. They were the better team. But Madden teed it up for them. Price was unhittable. 97 mph fastball. 95 mph slider. He's a lefty and the Phillies have had trouble with lefties all year. Tampa had six outs left. The Phillies had nine. Price was rested. It was cold out. I can go on and on.

Madden was guilty of looking ahead.
