The mistakes that left us last week are back to plague us this week. Not a single first down but we are tied 3 to 3 because of a Bama mistake.

We waited 17 minutes into the game but we finally made a first down... now two of them!

It is sad when the band used to play RockyTop after turn overs, long gains, and scores and are now playing it for the first first down 17 minutes into the game.

What a B/S call on the Tenn receiver right before the half.

I don't care what I have read here about moving forward...getting past it, etc.....that was a potential gamekiller for Tenn.
Sometimes bad calls are very....very difficult to overcome.

Tenn. is unranked....playing a tough #2 ranked team and in need of offensive execution when given the opportunity and then they execute a first down at the 14 yard line and the Zebra decides to have his own say so in the football game. From his angle I don't see how in the world he made that call.

First of all, great win for Bama. Congrats KP, the schedule sets up real nice for a NC run, at least, until you potentially face the Gators who are suddenly playing like world beaters. I think the Tide may be able to handle it though. Great looking team that executes well and plays their butts off. If they go undefeated I think they will make a great representative for the SEC in the NC game.

Now, I was guilty of overestimating this Vols team again. The first half was cruising along exactly the way I felt it needed to but Tenn. kept shooting themselves in the foot. I do think there were some questionable calls in this game but whatever..... The offense just still doesn't have "it." They don't have even a little of "it." It's a shame. I feel like it's 2005 all over again. Great defense, horrible offense.

Tom, do you think this does it? Is this the nail in the coffin for Fulmer. I know the guy's won 75% of his games but I'm just not sure he can right this ship. It seems to be sinking. If I'm not mistaken the combined scores of the last two games against the two biggest rivalries for the Vols stands at a completely unacceptable.....159-52. That's an average score of appx. 40-13. Say what you want about the winning % but you gotta beat Florida and Bama when you're Tennessee's coach.

Well, Alabama finally played a complete game. Aquila, I have to agree the PI was not a good call, I also thought the fumble in the second half could have gone either way. Those two calls hurt you at key points. The refs screwed up on some calls against Bama also but they weren't at such critical points. Having said all of that, Alabama's defense really came through tonight and once again our qb did not hurt us, actually he did a good job throwing the ball tonight too. As a matter of fact he threw too much, I still think we need to run the ball about 2/3s of the time. I'll take the win and move on to next week. :D

We decided to pack it in at halftime once again. There was a Halloween party across the street and we went dressed as Tennessee fans... the scariest thing on the face of the earth right now!

There was a time when you could not pry me away from a Tennessee game. I chastized those who left. I now understand. Thanks Foolmer for taking something that WAS special and run it into the ground. Ten years from first to worst!

There are now rumors about the USF coach coming to Tennessee. I don't see how that could be true with the present boat anchor not abandoning the sinking ship.

Foolmer must be able to see the future. If he has any love for the program left, he has to throw in the towel.

Edited to reflect USF not UCF... don't know that we would want O'Leary.

I thought both teams played excellent defense...it was just a matter of who would be able to generate enough offense to give them the edge. It was nice that Bama didn't have that drop in intensity in the 2nd half that has happened to them in a few other games. KP, I agree that it was key that JP Wilson played a solid game--especially considering some of the pressure the Tenn D was putting on him. RTR.

My normal mode of operation on Sat when I am home during football season is to watch three SEC games starting with the Raycom early game.

However last night I must apologize because I watched Ohio State and Penn State. I have a soft spot for Joe Paterno.

I flipped back to this game a few times but didn't watch it much.

    Sorry. :)

It is going to be interesting to see what Fulmer does this off season.

    Bill,
I watched the PSU/OSU game in the breaks. PSU defense looks very good. Are we headed for a meeting in Atlanta?

I think we are KP, but I thing Georgia fans have different thoughts.

Your path to Atlanta is pretty clear right now with a two game lead over LSU.

Congratulations on the big win and the big turnaround.

Yeah I guess we have to take 2 out of 3 from Miss St, LSU and Auburn to get in for sure unless we beat LSU then that would put in by the head to head tiebreaker????? Anyway, no time to worry about that, winning next week is the objective. 8)

George O'Leary is a very good football coach. I would have been quite happy to have him on the ND sidelines but the resume gaffe caused the Admin to send him packing. IMHO, if O'Leary doesn't have that BS spot on his resume, Weis wouldn't be ND's coach right now and we never would have known the horrors of Ty-tanic...

In hindsight, I could live with a bs resume...but not the 'man of integrity' Ty Willingham. IMHO, O'Leary would be a great hire for you guys.

Flippin' burgers at Mcdonalds for all I care. Nah, they wouldn't hire him for fear he would eat up the profits. :?
