John Brantley a 4 star QB from Florida commited to Texas. Most Gators thought he would go to Florida. His father and uncle played for Florida and he plays at a High School coached by ex Gators. Also the Gators only have 2 scholarship QB's on the roster and Texas has four or more. Strange, but Texas beat the Gators out for a good one. New Texas Commit Gator Bill
He was very impressed with Mack and Staff and the whole UT situation. And while I guess we have more guys at QB, none of them are established as the #1 and there is opportunity. Plus, while Vince Young was a incredible threat to run the football, the Texas QB's aren't necessarily expected to run the football. While Urbans offense is definitely designed for the QB to run. Brantley, inspite of being black, is not an esp good runner. Everybody is very happy in Austin, not to mention that we're set now at QB in this class and don't have to fool with the kid from Texarkana named Mallet who is a very good QB for sure, but one who's waffling all over the place in terms of where he wants to go. At one time it was supposed to be either Texas or Michigan, now he says he really wants to look around more, good luck to him. Terry

Yep, he's white! Bama runnerup again, that's not very exciting for them. Terry, I do suspect the running aspect is one of the major reasons he didn't go to Florida. But hey, you got a good one, we will have to recruit someone else. Gator Bill
Damn I watched a clip of him and it was home made video and pretty dark, so I just assumed he was black. Maybe he's an Octaroon! I think thats the word I'm looking for, but it's apparently not in the dictionary. Terry
