Even Dan Proctor is getting into the hot seat issue: Dan Proctor: Charlie Daniel appears to be referring to the apathy shown by a lot of Tennessee fans. Charlie Daniel:
We have now scored 27 points... 14 by the defense and 13 by the offense. I should be shot for starting the Alabama defense in the fantasy league rather than the Tennessee defense. :?
Yes... but I think too late to save Fulmer. Bama will score more on defense than they will on offense next week. Our defense is excellent if they are not on the field too often after three and out by the offense. The offensive mistakes have all but disappeared but we are still anemic.
Don't cash that check just yet Tom. If Cody is out, that changes the complexion of Alabama's defense entirely (see 2nd half of game today). They haven't played 4 quarters of football since opening night.
Corey, You could be right about Cody being hurt but this 2nd half looks just like every other 2nd half this year for Alabama and Cody has been healthy for those games.
Corey....since you think Mississippi is worthless how does the tough game they gave Bama today alter your view of Alabama? I would say based on that Tenn has a real good shot vs. the Tide. Actually I don't think Bama is as good as they looked in the first half vs. Ga. or as bad as they looked vs. Kentucky....but that's life in the SEC where tough, fast and physical defense still exists unlike some other conferences I know. Here is a quote on the LSU-SouCar game with respect to life in the SEC: Tenn has one of those defenses where the great athletes can still be found on the defensive side of the ball....if they only could find an offense to go with it.
MCG, I must be watching much more SEC football than you. 1. This doesn't change my opinion of Alabama at all. See my other thread about this subject. 2. Ole Miss isn't 'horrible' but they beat you. Wake Forest, Alabama, Vandy and South Carolina beat them. Last year I had to read over and over again that 'title teams don't lose at home to Stanford' but this year I am suppose to take a big bite of the 'SEC losses at home mean more than losses in other conferences' yet again. No thank you. That's stale. 3. More Bama: they crushed Clemson, Georgia, Western Kentucky and Arkansas. They struggled with Tulane, Kentucky and Ole Miss. They aren't very deep at all, and while they are experienced at the right places.. they do still rely on youth in the playmaker spots. I think focus could be an issue. I have lived here long enough to know that Tennessee is Alabama's real rival.. Auburn is just the in-state game. They'd be more likely to overlook Auburn than they would Tennessee. The hatred between UT and Bama runs as deep, if not deeper, than any rivalry in the country. 4. That quote is of absolutely no value and proves nothing. We've long established that the media has a stroke-fest for the SEC. Good for them.
Do you think a one loss USC last year deserved to go in more than the two loss team that won the NC game easily or maybe in lieu of the one loss team that got in by playing a schedule that never really tested their true strength and who was on the losing end of the NC game to the two loss team?
Yes on both accounts. Back to the subject at hand. Tennessee had their best outing of the year. This makes their showdown with Bama a lot more interesting.
I agree. Our defense is growing and will test Bama. Our offense has eliminated most of the mistakes. The big question will be: "What will Tennessee's 3rd down conversion rate be?" I do not see Bama making the offensive mistakes that Mississippi State made which led to two pick 6's. If our conversion rate is low, we are goners. If it is 50% or higher, I like our chances.
Obviously sir, you don't watch enough John Parker Wilson Ole JPDub will put ya right back in a ballgame if you get under his skin. One of the greatest feats for Saban and his OC this year is to ONLY put JPW in positions in which he can have success.
Tom, Corey, JPW's job is to do no harm, and he has had pretty good success so far. Our running game has taken all of the pressure off of him. Now if we can just do in the second half what we do in the first half, we will be real tough. We have also been very good at capitalizing on the other team's mistakes. So it UT can keep it close and not mess up they have a very good chance at winning. If Alabama gets a big lead then the question becomes how many points can Tennessee score in the second half.
