Even though I'm a moderator on AgTimes.com, I think I'm going to hang out on the Skybox most of the rest of this season. I'm sick of all the arm-chair coaches who for unknown reasons expected a 9 or 10 win season. Now that reality has smacked them in the face, they have to find someone to blame, rather than admit they were wrong. It's amazing how "fans" can in one breath talk about how lacking we are talent, and in the same sentence expect the new staff to have them playing like world-beaters. The team is making a LOT of mistakes, but I attribute that to new players learning/trying to execute new systems in all phases of the game. AND... a new staff that has mostly come from the NFL is learning how to adapt to the college game. We've also played 7 true freshman. I'm sure most of you know the old saying about freshman and losses... I wish we were like an OU, or Alabama where the new guy walks into a fairly well stocked cupboard and just has to figure out where to correctly fit the pieces . Fran (may he burn in hell)left a dismal roster behind. We have some good skill players, but the lines are BAD and there's no quick fix there. Injuries are mounting to make things worse. Heck, yesterday at one point we had to slap a new jersey on one of our blocking tight ends and play him at guard! I have one sliver of silver in this black cloud. This staff is in the process of installing a truly modern offense. If we could just block for it... Offensive output has been steadily rising. We put up over 500 yards on KSU. Unfortunately, we keep shooting ourselves in the foot when we smell blood, and still have difficulty scoring. Oh well. If things are going to hell, might as well have it all at once, and get it over with. I just hope a few decent kids will listen to our rebuilding pitch when the dust clears and we have 9 losses... Whining over, now back to your regular business.
Scott, You have a fine "young" upcoming team that has a lot of talent and like you I get disgusted with the expectations that are sometimes put on these young kids... RC
I hear ya Scott. If you're interested, I like to venture over to the major ND boards and tick off the hand wringers there. Maybe you need a road trip?
I didn't see that KSU game of course, but numbers wise you are getting better and while it might not translate into wins, getting better week to week bodes well for the future. He can sell early playing time to recruits and when there is a change the recruits sort of give you a pass for the 1st year if it's not good. They have to buy into the vision, which if you are still losing in year 3 is hard to sell, that's why Frans recruiting went downhill. I've noticed that internet message boards, unless your team is winning them all by big margins, always can find something to suck the joy out of winning. Terry
Heck, I've already moved over to BASEBALL! Oh joy... I get to attend the annual blood-letting that is the Dirt-Monkeys coming to town this Saturday. (that's Texas Tech for those of you not in our fair state) It must be the train-wreck effect: I don't want to look, but I have to!
Hey maybe you guys can get into a shoot-out with them and pull off the upset!! Your offense is getting better.
