As much as it pains me to say this I agree with Bianchi about a lot of our internet fans. You're what's wrong with Florida football, Gator fans
It's the same at ND sites Bill, we're 4-1 not 0-5 like last year and look at the chart of comparison between the 2 years from a stats perspective that I posted. So you would figure ND sites would be giddy with fan satisfaction, nope there is always something to complain about, some coach(es) who have been singled out as not very good, game plans that don't include enough running the football, defenses that don't sack enough or stop enough runs. Sometimes you'd think we'd lost the game instead of won the game. The glass is always 1/2 empty. It's the internet, not just the Gators. Terry ps...Shane Matthews has a radio show?
Yes he does have a show and apparently he regularly is negative toward Meyer, Tebow and the offense we run. I cannot verify by personal experience but enough people have said it that I have to believe. I've lost a lot of respect for Matthews.
Bill, Of course you can read Freeman's article on ESPN how Meyer is costing Tebow thousands of dollars, due to Meyer's ego? His articles on Maurice Clarett were just as bad. Don
LOL... You know someone is angry when they use the words persnickety, sucked and squeezes in the first 2 sentences. Urban Meyer strikes me as a guy who may well be a first class douchebag. He leaves in his wake a string of fans and employers that really seem to have a genuine dislike for him. That being said, the man can flat out coach. He recruits like a machine. He leads by example, often, and does what he believes is right. He's one of the great winners in college football and there's no denying that. He is a 'my kids first' kinda guy and there is a whole lot to be said for that. Any program that has an opening at head coach, that claims they wouldn't hire Urban Meyer is lying or delusional. The internet, like the world, is full of idiots. You can ignore them, or make fun of them, it's just a damned shame we don't have a hunting season for them.
Both statements pretty well sum up the situation. Before the internet most of us were blissfully ignorant how many idiots actually existed in the world, disguised as normal people. What is funny is that when a bunch of these like-minded dufuses band together, they wallow in the delusion that their rants are relevant. It's comical, often sad, to watch, but futile to try to push back with reasoned dialogue. As a group, they are similar in mindset and intensity to radical muslims. NDNation is a perfect example. What is sad is that most of these idiots are ND graduates who believe that because they spent 4 years there at their parents' expense, they somehow have the right to disrespectfully criticize the university, its programs, and even its people. This small but vocal band of idiots is an embarrassment to the tens of thousands of intelligent, mature, responsible alumni. At least they are cooped up all together in one internet forum so the rest of the world can watch from above while they rant incessantly about the topic du jour. So Bill, Florida is not alone in this regard.
Don, Corey and Sid, you guys have made sure I get up laughing this morning which the wife and I really needed. She's recovering from a knee replacement and got an abscess in her mouth which wasn't recognized at first so wasn't treated right away with antibiotics. This is potentially very bad for a knee replacement so we've been very concerned. She seems fine this morning though. Anyway, Don, yeah Mike Freeman is a a real dork. He is just a negative idiot in my mind. He lied on a resume to get a job, he called Urban Meyer a liar when he was with the Jacksonville Times Union and when he got the job at Sportsline one of his first columns was to call Meyer racist becasue he took Chris Leak out on the goal line and put Tebow in and in Freemans little world that was racist because it was costing Leak a Heisman. Of course Leak was never in the running for the Heisman but Freeman is actually one of the biggest racists I have read on the net. I try to ignore thim. Corey, really funny about the idiots on the net and needing a hunting season for them. If they ever did have that open season on idiots Freeman would have to go in hiding the whole season. Sid, classic about keeping the idiots cooped together in one spot. Thanks guys.
Hey Bill, how are the Fall colors doing up there? We're thinking of taking a long weekend next week to visit Brevard and cruise the Parkway. And yes, I'm hijacking the thread and I don't feel at all guilty.
Wendy, feel free to hijack any time for a conversation about North Carolina. The colors are starting and increasing daily, but here in Franklin they are not what I would call ready for viewing. Brevard is at a higher elevation and I'm not sure what they are like there. Last year the colors were spectacular about mid October and things happen fast so they may be much better by next weekend. If you get over to Franklin let me know.
It's still a maybe-maybe not trip. We had school commitments for the UF homecoming next week that fell through so now we have a long weekend free. I started college at Brevard College and haven't been back in a while. I used to go more often from Clemson, but back in Florida, the trips usually only go as far as Clemson. If we go, we will probably stay the first night with relatives near Atlanta or friends near Athens. If we head up via Atlanta, going straight up to to the mountains somewhere near Franklin is not out of the question. We may not have an exact plan until if/when we hit the road and have nothing else to do but look at maps for the first 6 hours on the way to Athens or Atlanta. I would hope that up on the Parkway the colors would be near peak. If not, hey, it's still the mountains and a welcome change of scenery for a Floridian!
I hope someday to get to the Parkway and maybe visit Gator Bill!! BTW Bill, don't forget that with winter comming that the dog has to walk itself down the icy slopes!!
