Here is why Georgia's road to the SEC East title.....while still in front of them....is a tough road to travel with their schedule: http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/uga/stories/2008/09/28/knowshon_moreno_injury.html
I posted after the ASU/UGA game that I was not impressed that UGA was such a great team, very good sure, but #1 no way. I was proved right with the stomping 'Bama put on them between the hedges. They are going to be a 2 or 3 loss team. Losing players like Moreno and earlier their starting LT are just justification for why they aren't what everybody thought they would be.
Pretty tough. Four currently-ranked teams, including at #3 LSU. October 11 Tennessee October 18 No. 19 Vanderbilt October 25 at No. 3 LSU November 1 No. 12 Florida November 8 at Kentucky November 15 at No. 13 Auburn November 29 Georgia Tech Oklahoma's schedule looks equally daunting, starting with the Red River Rivalry this week, for a total of four games against currently-ranked teams. October 4 at Baylor October 11 No. 5 Texas October 18 No. 16 Kansas October 25 at Kansas State November 1 Nebraska November 8 at Texas A&M November 22 No. 7 Texas Tech November 29 at No. 21 Oklahoma State
I agree, Rick, that is a tough schedule for Oklahoma. I wasn't drinking the Georgia Kool-Aid before the season and I'm definitely not now. I think they were the most overhyped team in America coming into this season. Bama exposed them and I don't think the Tide will be the last team to do so. I am a bit surprised by the Gators' loss. I really don't think the SEC is as good as it has been the previous two years. From what I've seen thus far (and this is subject to change), Bama and LSU look like the only two elite teams in the conference.
You guys forgetting the Longhorns? @Colorado Oklahoma Mizzou Okie State @Texas Tech Baylor @Kansas Texas A&M It will be tough to get through that schedule undefeated, the key is as always OU in Dallas. Terry
One reason why conference games (Trojans/Beavs, Rebs/Gators, Tide/Dawgs) are so much tougher is familiarity. These teams all know each other very well. I was one of the people calling for a USC/UGA bowl game last year and I sure didn't see last weekend's manhandling at the hands of Bama coming. Earlier this season I was positive that UGA would beat ASU handily, and frankly I was surprised the win wasn't as dominant (though it was complete) as I expected. Alabama at LSU has the makings of quite a show, particularly with the Saban back story.
'Bama going to LSU if both are undefeated is huge. As you said the backstory of Saban vs Miles will be very interesting. I wonder if Nick Satan will need to take extra Alabama State Troopers with him to Baton Rouge. Terry
... if it is a night game, you betcha! Them Cajuns having all day to get tanked up results in all kinds of mayhem! :?
I didn't think it was legal to play day games in Red Stick... By rule the "fans" must have time to get lubed up! 8)
I am not looking past anyone. It has been a long 8 years or so and I have seen us fold in the second half of the season too many times, BUT undefeated LSU vs undefeated Bama would be a lot of fun.
Ah I see Tom has a new Avatar, Is Elmer his choice to replace Phil, or has his pain meds been upped!!
Actually, Elmer was me and Phil was Bugs. I know, Elmer was never successful in hunting down bugs but I am a better shot. I just changed it again because Fulmer is not worth going to prison over. Now I am just soliciting help from anywhere I can get it.
OK Tom is definitely liking his pain meds way too much. Cindy get him some good ole Tenn whiskey to replace the Vicodin!! Or if we really wanted to liven up things around here bring him some Dilaudid!!
