1. LSU vs Auburn was a great game, High Drama and who would have thunk that Les Miles would be 8-3 vs Top 10 teams. I don't think anybody who followed him at OKie State would have predicted that he would be one of the best coaches in the country...ever. Oh yeah Jarrett Lee, that kid showed me something.

    2. Wake Forrest beats FSU for the 3rd year in a row, are FSU power brokers meeting as I type to get Bobbah to start penning his retirement speech? No way does Wake have the talent on the sidelines that FSU has on the sidelines.

    3. Gators over Vols. From reading the threads here, very painful loss for Vols. But it certainly vaults UF into the we're for real contenders for a spot in the BCS game.

    4. Georgia beats ASU on the road 27-10, is that a big win? UNLV beat them the week before at home. They only got 2 FG's in the 2nd half? Some have said that UGA deserves to jump ahead of OU in the polls. Do they? I don't think so, OU has been far more impressive this year than UGA.

    5. BCS potential controversy. What do you do if UF, USC and OU all end up undefeated? Will the down year in the Pac10 hurt USC, what if Ohio State loses several B10 games, that will tarnish the big USC win. Right now the press is saying that the B12 and SEC are the 2 best conferences this year. Will that result in USC being frozen out like Auburn in 2005? I don't think it will come down that way, I think the SEC champ is likely to be at best a 1 loss team. If OU and USC navigate to unbeaten seasons it will be those 2 in the game. But..........that's a big if.

    6. Big 10 will be interesting this year. Penn State looks good (of course they have played an extremely weak non-conf schedule) , as does Wisconisin. I think Michigan state is maybe a cut below those if for no other reason than, at least so far, Hoyer is not having a great season and their fortunes seem to ride on Ringer alone.

    7. I am shocked that UCLA has now been shutout for 8 consecutive quarters after that great start they had against Tenn. I thought for sure they would rebound against AZ.

    8. Boise State beating Oregon in Autzen. That was impressive, but maybe the Oregon struggle against Purdue was a preview that they were a good not great team this year with the continuing QB problems.

    9. BYU looks like they along with Boise State could be BCS busters this year. That Utah game at the end of the year could be huge, that's assuming that Air Force doesn't uspest BYU, they do get them at home.

    10. Miami after giving Fla fits before running out of gas late in the game, looked good vs A&M and with ACC being weak. It's not a stretch to see them in the ACC championship game at the end of the year. That UNC game next week, the return of Butch Davis, UNC comming off a close loss ...very important ACC contest.

    11. Texas looking very good against weak competition. Next up is SEC powerhouse Arkansas. Should be a good test for Texas. Oct 11 is the big game though for the Longhorns.

    12. ECU loses to NCState, inspite of the Irish loss I see no calls for Skip Holtz today to take over the Irish after the season. Funny how fast love can fade! :)

    13. To Hell with Purdue!! :)

    14. A lot of people are pretty hyped on Missouri, but that game Sat while a 20 point win nothing to sneeze at, the fact that the Missouri defense gave up 21 points tells me that maybe that will be a problem vs Nebraska Oct 4th. Joe Ganz is a heck of a qB, we might see a 45-44 type of game. I don't think the Neb defense can hold down Chase Daniel.

Good assessments Terry except for this...
Arky looks very, very down this year. Should be no trouble for the Horns.

Shocking you admit that a SEC team is not a powerhouse?

Not so shocking....I am much more of a realist when it comes to college football.....about other teams and conferences and also about my own team and the SEC than I am given credit for.

I'll readily admit the Gator's shortcomings and don't back off in pointing out what other's most of the time won't admit about their teams....which keeps me generally in hot water around here.

The problem is no one ever seems to realize it or want to acknowledge when I have reservations/criticisms about the Gator's performance or lack of.

    some other thoughts

<t>I don't think it has been a great year for the Pac10. In fact, this is a year in which I think most teams will be better at the end of the season due to a lot of rebuilding/youth/injury projects..

But I don't how the college football media has pinned the Pac10 as so down when they are losing to Mountain West teams and Boise State?!? I don't see those other conference 'big boys' lining up to play them. Why can't it just be a good year for some of the better teams from the Mountain West and WAC? It's not like you can't look to onfield examples to show you they are good. There is a lot more onfield proof for teams like BYU and Utah than there is for Auburn or LSU.

The 'Dogs' win at Arizona State was impressive for me. Granted, ASU has some injury/depth problems but Georgia did well. ASU turned the momenum of that game around, but Georgia wouldn't let them get off the floor.

Auburn and LSU are not top 10 teams. Locally, the media here has been in meltdown mode over Auburn's offense and they've been calling for the OCs head for nearly 3 weeks.

Arkansas is terrible. You don't really understand what a bad job Houston Nutt did there until you look at the aftermath of Hurricane Nutball. What Petrino is left with isn't even a half empty glass... It's a bowl full of sh*t.

Florida looks very good. Tennessee is facing a lot of questions that I am not sure they want to answer right now.

Alabama should win the SEC West.

(For ND fans) Holy Hell.. Have you seen NDN?? What a bunch of nancy boys. They have already gone full-blown black helicopter and are looking for Charlie's head.

Idiots, the f*cking lot of them.</t>

I have answered those questions at the end of last season but am bound by my word to not repeat those answers until the end of the 2010 season.

    Sid,

I called Andy out on something that was flat out not true. He stokes those fires and the ignorant follow him to the cliff. With most things ND, I just leave them be. I know full well there are inner workings at that school that I am no part of, and have no idea if they are true or not.

However, he made a statement today that I contradicts the words of a former coach at ND. I heard the words from the coach's mouth. I also know others who, had they read Andy's post, would have called him out about it too.

He is nothing more than an internet troll, and I normally appreciate a good troll, however this guy is becoming a cancer on that board.

    Tom,

I understand your personal pledge. I respect that BTW. However, do you think the program can stand to wait that long?

I equate the current staff to a crack addict. The addict must hit rock bottom before they themselves realize there is a problem and can ask for help. If we continue on this path through the end of 2010, the rebuilding process will not be measured in seasons but in decades.

I did something last night that I have never done in 20 years of watching Tennessee Football. I left during a game. I have sat through some horrible beatings and yawner blowouts (not in a long time for these :( ), and never did I feel like I was wasting my time. Yesterday, I did. I long for some offense. I watched lots of teams from different conferences have great offensive plays and lots of points. My Vols haven't done that in a long time. And I'm mad as hell about it. Tom may have said he would back off, But, I didn't. The defense is tired. The offense is MIA. I want a new, young dynamic coaching staff that can energize this team. And I want it NOW!!!!!

Les Miles, I think he's a good but lucky coach. Two years in a row Auburn takes the lead late and has to hold LSU. Both times by either a pouch kick or a weak punt LSU gets to start with terrific field position. Auburn ran out of gas the 2nd half.

As far as coaches from Oklahoma State, I believe that's where Miami got Jimmy Johnson.

FSU, I think you may be wrong about them having the best talent on their sideline. Their recruiting hasn't gone very good the last several years. The Gators have been handing them their rear ends for several years getting about everyone that we are in competition with them. Two other things about their highly ranked recruiting classes a few years ago. They always lost several very highly ranked players to grades. They sign then to help their recruiting ranking then they don't get in school. In a number of cases they got credit for the same 4 or 5 star players 2-3 years in a row then the player never gets in school.

The last thing about FSU is their OL recruiting has been horrible. Right now one of their starting OL is a kid that we almost signed but didn't because whe signed about 5 better. All are either redshirting or playing special teams. FSU is in trouble with the NCAA also.

FSU will have a much harder time getting back on top than Miami because they do not have a natural recruiting base like Miami has in S. Florida and they are having trouble competing with the Gators head to head.

    To much about FSU. :)

I agree Florida is for real. As far as what happens if Florida or Georgia goes unbeaten and so does Oklahoma and USC, I think USC would be in and the SEC would probably have the inside track over Oklahoma. If Florida and Georgia both stay unbeaten until we meet then I think voters that support the loser would mostly switch to the winner. That would be a more solid opinion if they were either 2 and 4 in the rankings or 2 and 3 in the rankings. If Oklahoma stays at number 2 they may hold on. The computer rankings will be a big factor.

I didn't see Miami play this weekend, but I had a favorable opinion of them, except for whining about a field goal, in the game with the Gators. They could well contend in the ACC.

    Cheers
