I hope some of you watched the Men's 4 X 400 relay last night. The performance by Lezak the American anchor swimmer was truly memorable.

I agree. Phenomenal. Especially after the arrogant French guy shot his mouth off. I don't recall ever being that excited about an Olympic victory. I'm glad I stayed up to see it.

You can watch the replay on this site. You'll have to download and install a plugin called Silverlight, but it only takes a minute.

    Very aweinspiring:

What a finish....the kid is a gamer. The fastest 100 relay leg in history coming from WAY back to out touch the world record holder! Take that Frenchy!

When I was a kid most of these athletes had 1 olympics and they were done, and they were usually 18-22 y/o, after that they had to get jobs. But now with all the professionalism and other ways of supporting themselves it's not all that common these days to see the 18-22 y/o athlete, you see older more physically mature athletes. ...except in womens gymnastics of course where you are still done by 16 or so.

    Good story on the gymnast.

Redeem Team, LeBronze James...lol! I like Lebron a lot, I thought he'd be a big flop, that he would never live up to the hype. But he has and he's done it was some class and dignity. I haven't seen him show up on the police blotter. I have read though that he's interested in leaving Cleveland when his contract is up, might just be words to make the Cavs show him some love ($$$). I even read that he said he'd play in Europe if they would pay him 50M a year, well I guess so!!

Apparently the number 8 is special to the Chinese. So much so that the Olympics started on 8/8/08. Well tonight the number 8 was very, very special.

i enjoyed watching the look on ian 'i'm not gay' thorpe's face over the last few events. you could tell that he wanted him to fail, but deep inside.. he knew it was possible. he stated as such, but it also came across as less than sincere.

i know this is terrible but anyone who is still young who 'loses the desire to compete' exactly at the same time steroid testing caught up to steroids will always be suspect to me. not that it matters, no one will remember thorpe in 20 years anyway.

I know you'll all be suprised to hear that Jesse Jackson thinks it's racist that Michael Phelps is getting all this media attention and no media attention is going to the track and field guys who are of course mainly black.

I guess he wasn't around when Carl Lewis and Michael Johnson dominated the Olympics Media.

I have to say that Jamacian Kid who obliterated the 100M field was amazing, he was so far out in front he hotdogged it across the finish line and still set a world record. I'll bet if he'd stayed focused he'd have done something Bob Beamanlike...if you know what I mean.

The picture of determination was that Romainian chick who won the Marathon, or maybe it was the Brit Chick who didn't win but ran in pain for about 10 miles because the British press called her a loser when she dropped out in the last olympics.

Hey George would you check something out for me. We have a disagreement here. Some think that Michael Phelps' mom was married to Johnny Sack. Ask around the neighborhood and find out will ya?
