but is Russia invading Georgia? Jeez, I knew their schedule was tough but to add Russia as well?

OK, I kid... but can someone tell me why I am still listening to stories about Brett Favre and John Edwards lying (who saw that coming, an ambulance chaser doesn't always keep his word?)... and it looks like things may get ugly if Russia decides to 'take back' one of its most important former Soviet members.

From the way I heard it, Russia was tired of all the Eastern European bias and the fact that Georgia was the preseason #1.

No, I agree Corey, this could turn into something very serious. As if anything needed to be added to the high tension in that general area.

I just hope we mind our own business for a change. Otherwise, have at it.

Russia is tired of being having sand kicked in their faces, and tired of watching the USA get to try out all it's new weapons systems in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I have no doubt that the ultimate goal is a new Soviet friendly govt in Georgia, one that will give Russia tacit control of any pipelines that were planned for the region.

I don't doubt at all what you're saying, Terry. Russia is reemerging as a world power. They supply large portions of Europe with power and I think they may be trying to further their cause here. A large trust issue still exists between "us and them."

Terry, I'm sure you wrote this tounge in cheek. Putin is an old hard line communist, who as head of the KGB used every foul device in his arsenal to prevent the dissolution of the Soviet Union which, he has stated was a dissaster. He is using this war to establish a puppet government in Georgia which would bring it back to where it was before the break away of east euopean block. NATO should expedite the admission of the Ukrain or it could be next.
