Maybe the only two on this board but it is the prevailing thought in the Gator Nation.....Gator Bill notwithstanding because he goes out of his way not to offend and there is a subtle reason also I believe he is so sensitive to OSU.....he is from Ohio....although I know he is a dyed in the wool Gator to be sure.

In any event Gaterz stated the case well and in spite of the head-in-the-sand approach some wish to pursue this is a relevant and topical debate with regard to this year's national championship race.

It is not meant to flame but by God when I get lambasted for even suggesting it is a significant part of this year's title debate I get a little stubborn about projecting my beliefs on the subject.

Frankly the hypersensitivity exhibited by BT and some others about this topic is perplexing.

At least OSU is in the NC mix.

Trust me...if the Buckeyes were playing in the Alamo Bowl last year and were revving up for an upgrade to the Outback Bowl this year I would have no comment on Ohio State whatsoever.

It's mystifying that most here cannot grasp what I am saying or at least they pretend not to grasp it....which I believe is actually closer to the truth.

Some decent analysis of the first poll...

    Well, let's see...

Yes, MCG just starts an innocent thread on the coach's poll.

Then Gaterz brings up the fine showing of the SEC (no problem) and compares it to the B10 (still no problem, but it does seem like an agenda is showing but that's allright) and he follows it up with a minor shot at the conference...ok, no big deal, but still, I ask, who started this stuff?

Then BT comes back with a very astute comment...maybe a minor jab but maybe just an observation that not long ago at all Gaterz was lamenting the poor job the pollsters did of looking at things, and now he seems happier...I still don't see any hypersensitivity or head in the sand stuff here.

Next Gaterz responds accusing BT of Scarlet and Gray glasses and hatred for UF causing him to be unobjective and apparently unable to understand the difference between a preseason poll and a regular poll.

I merely suggest that BT and I have no hate for UF (didn't call anybody out) and get a sarcastic response from Gaterz.

Then other fellas chime in and, rightly or wrongly, say that they are not fond of the behavior of certain individuals, and now this once again generates comments about OSU fans having our heads in the sand and trying to stop topical debate and yada, yada, yada...

I think that any topic is legitimate...what I get tired of is folks throwing down the gauntlet and then taking the "Who me?" approach.

Damn this is getting old. :x

MCG, Gaterz. How 'bout you two knuckle-heads post about things you know: UF, and the SEC.

Stay away from the Big 10, and especially Ohio St, cuz I can assure you NONE of the guys who follow them (or the rest of us for that matter) give a crap what you think. Your constant attacks only serve to hurt the Skybox.

Since you've proven you can't "discuss" those items, just stay away.
I'm sick of every thread being derailed by some snide comment or "witty" jab you come up with.

For the sake of what was once a great community, please CEASE AND DESIST! :!:

    you two realize

<r>that all of this is babbling on about a list of teams who haven't proven a damned thing on the field yet, right?

I hate these pre-season polls. They shouldn't mean anything, but sadly they do. They are the opening template from which the story of the upcoming season will be written. Sure teams can play their way into contention, to a point. At the same time, it can be used as a starting block to 'go back' and give other teams another bite at the apple.

There hasn't been a GD thread on this board that has had any real shelf life that hasn't devolved into a 'SEC Rules, Ohio State sucks and never deserves another shot unless they beat USC' hack-fest.

For the love of God can we discuss the merits of anything else? Better than that.. how about we jam all the Ohio State/Florida rules/SEC uber alles crap into one thread and keep it there! That's all I really ask, just keep it in one spot.
We're ( Gaterz and me ) not the only ones that always derail these threads...

I will try harder to ignore but others can't seem to resist making contrary comments either and that provokes more comment.

Whenever the subject of the top rated game of the year ( USC-OSU ) comes up it will be hard for this not to be an issue and especially if the National Title mix boils down to one loss teams and OSU is in that mix.

Maybe we just stick to baseball?

You mean talking about a real title mix with real teams with real records?

    Count me in!

You make it appear that on Gator boards I adhere to your thought process about Ohio State. That is simply not true I do not! Period!

I am a dyed in the wool Gator so you have that part right.
Sorry but what you two do is NOT debate. It's your opinion stated over and over and over and over and over..................and over. In a manner that cannot help but draw out the Ohio State guys.

And debate to be sort of means with open minds, which I also do not see from the other two Gators posting here. I might even go further and say we have probably lost some Gators because of this nonsense.
Sorry MCG but you are describing yourself more than BT and some others.

I think it may be about time to start locking some topics again.

As much as I hate to say that.

I seriously think that could be a good idea Corey. It might be a little hard to decide just what would go there though. :)

Well, interestingly, AFA I know it was isolated in MCG's "Concensus" thread until our pal BuckeyeT = $1(*)T opted to hijack this thread in the 6th post.

There ya go. :D Be happy, don't sweat the small stuff.

But, back to the topic at hand, I'm feeling just a slight bit better about the UF defense this morning now that Urban "the liar" Meyer is apparently (as being reported by several Florida newspapers) alllowing Ronie "AK47" Wilson back on the team .... at DT. Can never have too many DT's .... including the two U"tl"M stole from ND - Trattou and Hunter.

Hey, I'm surprised there's been no discussion about Buddy Martin's book containing the assertion that Urban Meyer had decided to take the ND job before "flip/flopping" because of pressure from his family. Wonder if he'd verbally accepted the ND job before changing his mind :?: (oh %$@*, this is off topic and probably warrants a seperate thread .... sorry MCG)

Gaterz, you can keep pushing everyone's buttons, including mine, for so long.

However I will assure you of one thing, if it comes down to you or me, I will have the last word.

    Grow up!

Okay Bill, I responded to your assertion with what I believe to be factual. You may hold a different opinion, fine. So we move on.

I posted about several different "matters" involving UF ........ coaching, recruiting, and player discipline ..... all of which have been previously discussed on this board. Nothing about any other schools.

So, help me out here .... what subjects are off limits and which aren't?

    :?:

And really, ad hominems ..... are they necessary?

And on recruiting .... UF has two verbals for 2010 ..... and another wanting jump on the wagon!! Are these early verbals a good thing for college football?

I was never suggesting that in the least Bill.

I was suggesting that you personally would never be critical of Ohio State whereas other Gator fans have no problem with that.

I read all of the Gator message boards also.....

I have an opinion and am as entitled to it as BT is to his.

I have supported this opinion numerous times with links to many articles written by several national sports writers.

It is not just my sole opinion.

I don't get the idea you seem to propose that it's OK to have stones break my own windows but I can't pick them up and throw them back....

I would like to discuss Oklahoma maybe a little more in detail.

What do you think Terry being the Texas fan you are, is Oklahoma's perception with the BCS voters?

Do you think there are no chinks in the armour or are the Sooners a little bit behind the eight ball due to their recent postseason performances or lack thereof?

Voters love Bob Stoops and the Sooners, when it comes to them they have no memory.
