No real surprise that Georgia is #1.

More coaches feel that the Dawgs will beat #5 Florida than the other way around I guess.

USC comes in at #2.....and maybe that is a small surprise as OSU checks in at #3.

OU at #4 is right on most prognostications.

After 2 embarassing losses in a row to cinderella teams, plus embarassing losses in the 2 bowls previous to that (both BCS champ games I think). Do you think that the game vs Texas is a make or break for the Sooners, a loss there and they are out of consideration even if they finish 11-1? :)

LOL, votes for GaTech, UCF, Colorado, and Tulsa .... but none for Miami :!:

 3 SEC teams in the top 10 (well top 6) and only one from that other conference (or as Franz Beard would say the conference that can't count).

This first poll is really more about last year than about this year.

8 of the top 10 were top 10 last year and 22 of the 25 were in the final top 25 as well.

From a poster on a board I read who likes to dabble in stats.

These are mostly for fun. AFA I'm concerned, UF doesn't have a "top-5" defense. Now, they may be or they may develop into such but .... as it stands today, defense is still a big :?: for UF.

I believe the offense is going to be really good .... but not so much the defense and .... "defense wins champioships" I'm told.

Gaterz, it seems as if it was only yesterday that you were heaping scorn upon the pollsters for doing such a piss poor job.....today, not so much, eh?

Well, if you'd rid yourself of the red-n-gray eyewear and hate for UF and objectively read the posts, you'd understand the discussions are in regards to voters considering (or not) the difficulty of a team's schedule when voting/ranking those teams in polls used to pick teams for the BCS+1 game.

Now .... think about that ....... in the context of a PRESEASON poll :!: Little hard to evaluate a team's performance/record against its opposition .... when no games have been played!!

What an interesting choice of words. I shouldn't speak for my friend BT, but I assume that he, like myself, holds no hate for UF...I certainly don't remember him expressing any.

So now you are accusing those who defend against your obsessive demeaning of OSU/Big 10 and who provide their own facts to support their side of the debate as "hating" Florida? That's a pretty bold assertion which demands actual instances where someone - anyone - said anything that could be construed as "hating" Florida. It's simply not true.

So .... did I miscalculate the average won/loss records opf tOSU's conference opponents for 2006 and 2007??

Don't sweat the small stuff, Sid.

It's kinda funny that even though there are references to these OSU "being worthy" issues all over the continent and the internet that you guys always want to relegate it down to the "obsession" of two Gators.

    Terry,

I do think Oklahoma has created some doubt with it's bowl performances much like Ohio State has in the last two years.

In a close vote situation for the NC game that could definitely work against the Sooners.

guys as in plural, as in every damn body on the board....

does it not strike you as odd that you two are the ONLY two that think otherwise, even those without a dog in the hunt so to speak.

it is what it is.....if it troubles you, change your rude and obsessive behavior.

Again T, as was the issue in the discussion of schedule .... the population you're evaluating (this board) is much too small ...... and is significantly biased.

So be it. Be happy, :D . Don't sweat :x the small stuff.

Actually that is one Gator and one that has recently chimed in.

MCG, you tend to ignore one fact. That is the creed of this board.
What you have done to the Ohio State fans is nothing short of flames. You were, and still are obsessed with flaming the OSU fans. Why? I have no idea.

Yes, the OSU fans have returned fire.

When you keep getting grenades lobbed at you, it sometimes becomes necessary to pull the pins and lob them back.

Maybe the folks who get so miffed at what MCG or I may post .... and this did initiate on a thread started by MCG ..... should not reply with the same old worn out flames.

Bill, MCG started a thread at Concensus Rankings, then this thread and I responded to his comments. Then the personal insults, name calling, and flames followed from BuckeyeT. There's your bull**** if you want to "stop it". It's not the information MCG or I post in support of what we believe. But hey, if you want no discussion of tOSU schedules, so be it.

Seems to be the only way to keep some happy, and that's what we want .... to be happy and not sweat the small stuff!!

    :D

Okay ... so I think UF is ranked too high because of questions on defense. Uga's too high because i believe their QB is overrated and they have a tough schedule ... oh $%@%, can I say that word? Seriously, Uga's going to have a tough row to hoe .... or ho' ... and if they win out, deserve a shot in the BCS+!.

Gaterz, interpret anyway you want to I think the Ohio State folks have put up with a lot from a couple of Gator fans, and I don't mean me, who should have been a lot more gracious.

As to them starting flaming, give me a break.

As to the sample size of this forum, since what we are discussing is this forum then I would consider the sample size to be quite adequate.

As to Georgia, I agree with you that if they win out with their schedule there would be no way they could be denied being in the Championship game. Their schedule is brutal.
