I would say that success brings confidence that borders on cockiness and the end result of that is contempt. I have to say that past success fuels a never say die elitism that seems to prevail amongst ND fans everywhere. It's abundant and strong. However....who could really blame you when the past is examined closely? I wonder though how much longer if some of that glory isn't recaptured fairly soon. Florida is somewhat new to the list I am sure but successes since 1990 and some good old fashioned beatdowns of every regular opponent on the schedule coupled with Spurrier brashness in his tenure have led some to resent UF......So be it and pleeeease continue! 8)
I was thinking I read an article that said that Ohio State and USC were the most hated with the Irish slipping to 3rd since we don't win as much as we used to win.
L-effing-oh-el <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> <br/> dammit Rick. That's so good I am mad at myself for not thinking of it. Well done sir, well done.</r>
I've seen something recently - can't recall where or when - that said ND was both the most hated and the most loved college football program. I wonder how many of the other programs on that list would be in both categories. Rick and Corey, clue me in on "Tiger Beat".
TOK, I think this is what you were thinking about....I had seen it recently as well. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3509578
That's a stupid poll, ESPN picked the top 10 and you have to vote for 5 of them and no one else. No credible poll of disliked teams would be complete without Florida State on the list!
Sid <r>more Tiger Beat..<br/> <br/> not stealing Rick's thunder.. just putting the bow on the present<br/> <br/> <IMG src="http://i330.photobucket.com/albums/l413/EvilStepTwin/tbstar0977.jpg"><s></e></IMG></r>

I had never heard of Tiger Beat before now...it's scary to think that BDR and Corey know about it though!!
There is but one answer <t>having a little sister will do that to you.<br/> <br/> Teen girls line their walls with pics from these types of rags.</t>
I have an older sister, and was introduced to the rag in the late sixties and early seventies. Also, If anyone remembers the movie "Stripes", John Candy's character "Ox" becomes a teen hearthrob and appears on the cover of Tiger Beat. No thunder stolen, Corey. We're all just one big jazz ensemble here, and I like the riffs .
Most surprising by their absence is FSU. I guess it just shows that the perception is not only that they've peaked but that they may not be a dominant program in the future.
Agreed on FSU....shows how they have slipped lately. But Gator fans still have the burn for the semi-holes...
