ND is outspent only by the University of Tenn. Which also recruits nationally. I'm suprised that UF is 3rd, mainly because you would think they could fill the roster with 4* players and not even leave the Middle and Northern part of the state of Florida...conceding South Fla to Miami. Cost of Recruiting
Seems to me that they spend a lot of money trailing CW around the country poaching a recruit every year.
well <t>I look for UF's costs to go way down as they no longer have to support Mattison's buffet addiction on the road. The rest of the staff seems rather svelt.</t>
Re: well <r><QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> <QUOTE><s> </e></QUOTE> Well, you've explained why UT and ND require such <U><s></s><B><s></s>heavy<e></e></B><e></e></U> recruiting budgets. <br/> <br/> <IMG src="http://cache.deadspin.com/assets/resources/2007/02/weismistrial.jpg"><s></e></IMG><br/> <br/> <IMG src="http://www.coacheshotseat.com/PhilFulmerCoachesHotSeat.jpg"><s></e></IMG><br/> <br/> <E></E></r>
So Gaterz <t>what you are saying here is that you agree with me?<br/> <br/> I'm of the opinion that throughout the recruiting season, Mattison always knew the location of two things:<br/> <br/> -Charlie Weis<br/> -The nearest Barnhills<br/> <br/> Its nice to get a little support from the Gatornation!</t>
Corey may really be onto something here. If the Gators recruiting costs drop and Tennessee and Notre Dame's do not then we may have a winner!
Fulmer may be earning those buffet dinners this year with 15 commitments already but I think he should have to regurgitate some uh....money from last year.
That wouldn't affect Fulmer at all. Now limit the T-Bones and mashed taters and you might just be on to something there.
Good point Tom <r>Very good point.<br/> <br/> Maybe we can slap a restriction on them.. Something like... 1 plate and 1 trip to the buffet.. The contents of your plate can't be higher than a cup of coffee... No stuffing food in the cup of coffee <E></E><br/> <br/> And here I sit saying all this stuffing down my Taco Bell lunch! Gotta love hypocrisy</r>
I found this article interesting regarding top high school football talent by state. Pay particular attention to NFL players per capita. http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/sh...8/04/14/best_high_school_football_states.html
the per capita debate is like a guy with a small wang buying tighter underwear to make himself feel better about his manhood. in all seriousness, i had made the per capita case for Mississippi years and years ago. A few disagreed with me, most said it didn't matter. i do know that I have seen HS football at both high and low levels in damn near every state on that list. The only notables that I hadn't seen was OH, PA, and TX. But anywho... guys who write stories like this don't get it. They don't know how it works.. they just don't get it. I could go into the dynamics of why HS sports are 'better' in some areas than in others but its late and I am finally done waiting for this client.
