Next evolution of offense??

    I see a lot of holes in this one at the college level, but I'm sure someone will try it...

    I read this earlier and came away impressed for its potential at the high school level. I'm not so sure it could be used consistently with success at the highest levels of D-1. Of course, I still think the spread option is a gimmick sure to be figured out soon and that assumption is not working out too well for me so far. I'd love to watch one of this school's games.

    I would think against a good D1 team would just put some speed on the DL , weight would not be the issue and just come after the QB with 4 big fast guys, nobody to block them, ignore the center and 2 TE's.

    from that link: Says UF against LSU, others ran a few plays from the A11, anybody remember them??

    I think the way they would combat that would be to lateral to one of the WRs out wide, have one of the "QBs" run a fly pattern, catching those big DLs off guard and hitting them over the middle for a first down. I think this is an interesting concept for offense but I think the speed of D1 linemen would somewhat negate its effectiveness.
