    Scheduling Costs
I think I now know why Div1AA schools want to move to Div1.

Texas is paying $900K to Florida Atlantic? That's it?

They should also have to subjected to scorn for five years for even thinking of scheduling FAU!

    Mack like cupcakes! Yum-yum!

Well Mack is on record as not favoring scheduling a top 10 team for his non-conference games. The one vs Ohio State was sort of an anomaly, it was scheduled at least 10 years out and Mack wasn't the coach. He feels that the B12 schedule is tough enough. He's not opposed to putting say Ole Miss on the schedule or somebody like that though.

Not denying FAU is a cupcake but there are easier cupcakes....softer to the bite than the Owls:

    From CFN:

Recap: Bar none, the Owls were the story in the Sun Belt in 2007, delivering a bunch of school-firsts under Howard Schnellenberger, led by their first league championship and first bowl game. Battle-tested by a rugged schedule and led by the deft passing of Rusty Smith, Florida Atlantic went 6-1 in the league, regularly finding ways to overcome a gambling defense that allowed 33 points a game. The turning point for the fledgling program came on Dec. 1, when the Owls upset conference favorite Troy in Alabama to win the league title.

Be careful about considering FAU a cupcake. They were in a bowl game last year.

Hey Texas went down to UCF last year to open their new stadium and nearly lost. I doubt if Mack will take them lightly, though sometimes it's hard to get the players to take a team like FAU seriously. Which is why sometimes these games are closer than they should be...
