LSU had just too much athleticism for Duke, and JJ Redick was harassed all night and never could get his shot. If I were an NBA GM I'd stay far away from JJ, a great college player no doubt. But I can't see him being all that much in the NBA.

Jif still has 3 teams left in his Final Four though.

Texas really steam rolled WVU in the first half, another case of a more athletic team who can work inside, outside, and fast break vs a team that lives and dies on the 3 pointer. Texas might make the final four if they keep playing like this.

WoW the Mountaineers really made a game of it in the 2nd half. The got a great run to start the 2nd half and then it was close all the way to the end, Pittsnogle hits the 3 to tie with 5 sec's left...I'm thinking this is OT for sure. Then the Texas kid (from L.A.!) hits the winning 3, ball goes through the net as the clock runs out. Great game. WVA shoots a ridiculous number of 3 pointers.

Gonzaga was stoning UCLA at one point but I see now their lead is down to 10, I hope they can hang on and move on.

Wow another incredible ending in the Gonzaga/UCLA game. The Bruins trailed the whole game. All Gonzaga had to do is maintain possession and hit the foul shots, that was all UCLA could do to have a chance. But the Zags got the ball stolen in the back court and hit the shot to take the lead, the only lead they had the whole game. Morrison collapsed in a heap of tears after the game.

Wow, wow and wow. I've never seen anything quite like tonight. The end of the UVA-TX game was about as wild as it gets, but then the UCLA-Gonzaga game showed me a comeback like I've never seen before and I've been watching UCLA basketball for 46 years...

The Bruins really showed their age at the start. They looked so confused on offense that they missed their first 10-11 attempts from the field. I stopped counting their missed layups at 6 and that was still in the first half. Their defense didn't even show up until the second half. At one point, they were down by 17 and trailed most of the game by double-digits. With a little over a minute left in the game and no time-outs, they were down by 9... With 33 seconds left they were still down by 6. Under 20 seconds they were still down by 5... Under 13 seconds and they still trailed by 3... Under 6 seconds they trailed by 1 when Farmar stole the ball and fed it underneath for an uncontested layup to take the Bruin's first lead of the game, then their defense tied up the ball with 2.2 seconds left, leaving Gonzaga with only a Hail Mary that didn't work...

Wow. I've never seen a team that deserved to win less than UCLA did tonight. They were completely inept on offense, scared on defense and confused everywhere else. They looked and played like what they are: a JV team full of freshmen and sophomores, but they refused to quit and found a miracle in their pockets in the final minute. The poor Gonzaga players will be having nightmares about this one for the rest of their lives...

Batista looked like he was waiting to be fouled when Farmar slapped the ball out of his hands, and then made that pass for the lay in and lead. Farmar really redeemed himself in the last minute of the game. Still, I think UCLA would be better off using Collison at the 1 and moving Farmar to the 2.

What's with Gonzaga not being able to get past the Sweet Sixteen? Are they becoming the Chicago Cubs of college hoops?

Congratulations on your win, Terry. We were switched over to your game to see the tying shot and the winning shot. Just wild.

    :D Terry,

Congratulations on the Horns winning on that last second trey. What a wild finish!

Tickled to death to see Duke go down to LSU. How we beat that team in the early part of the season on their home court, is a mystery to me.

I went to bed with UCLA down by about 10 points. Never fails!

I agree with you on Redick. His game depends on teamwork and that's in short supply in the NBA.

Well it looked like Washington got hosed big-time by the refs last night. UConn was awarded 48 friggen free-throws vs. only 23 for Washington and FOUR of the UW starters were fouled out. Goal tending wasn't called, hacks, fouls, bodyblocks and attempted murder wasn't called either. Its too bad that the officiating ruined the game. Washington had a faster and more athletic team than UConn, but it didn't matter...

PS. Congrats to Gator fans on their move into the Elire 8.

    Wawaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Seriously, WA looked real good last night. They will be heard from. I couldn't stay awake for the second half, so I can't comment on the tenor of the game. I was tired after being up late the prior night watching my longshot pick, Gonzaga, go down in flames. The Pac10 looks like it might be on the verge of a comeback in the near future, with UCLA, WA, and AZ all performing well and UCLA still alive.

Size matters. How else was Washington going to stop UCONN but to foul them. ? It was actually their best bet since UCONN made over 50 % of their shots.

UCONN towered over Washington accross the board. I thought they deserved more free throws.

Washington is a well coached team and played their hearts out but they don't have anyone to stop a front line that averages at least 6'9" and lengthy.

Bad call on that no goal tending. Washington played well and is well coached but UCONN is so much deeper than just 2 players. Wash had too many defensive mismatches.

    UCONN won on sheer talent.

Paraphrasing JO'Co's comment and applying it to tonight's game:

"Well it looked like Washington/Memphis got hosed big-time by the refs last night/tonight. UConn/UCLA was awarded 48/39 friggen free-throws vs. only 23/15 for Washington/Memphis..............."

    That's college basketball.

Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen a #1 seed choke as badly as Memphis did. Give UCLA credit for its defense, but Memphis had many opportunities to take over the momentum and blew them with bad ball handling, bad decisions, and poor shooting. UCLA did not excactly light it up scoring-wise either, but they are heading to Indy.

I like the way Ben Howland's teams play defense. I wouldn't count them out.

I must be watching some other games than you guys. Washington had a little better/faster team than UConn and UCLA was much better than Memphis. The Bruins kicked their arse from coast-to-coast and the game was never close. Except for the last 55 seconds of garbage time, Memphis was held to 39 points and their big scorer was held to one basket. The Tigers two best players went 3-for-18 and this was the lowest point total for a #1 seed since the shot clock was installed in 1986. The game was an old-fashioned, wood-shed job and neither team complained about the refs that I've heard.

BTW- UCLA returns to the Final Four for the 16th time, tying the all-time record. Those western teams sure are lucky...

    PERSONAL FOULS PER GAME

    UCONN = 17th

    Washington = 189th

Uconn is not the only team Washington likes to hack.

    re: Memphis

Calapari went to the "Bob Huggins" school of coaching which means he opts for street players with great one on one skills and zero brains. In crunch time, stupid players usually come unglued and Memphis predictably did.

    re:fouls

Bad matchups generally create the inequity in fouls
