I figured you ND guys would be talking it up.
You're going to play in what will surely be one of the finest stadiums in the land.
Should make a nice wad of cash and get some good pub for ND. Hopefully none of the players we're after then will be watching! ;)

    ND vs ASU

There is a bulletin board named NDNation which, like many college football bulletin boards, contains a bunch of whiners and know-it-alls. There is a vocal contingent on that board, a miniscule percentage of all ND fans, that is critical of the future scheduling and neutral-site games. I haven't looked at the board lately and don't know what they are saying and frankly don't care.

If I am an ND alumnus/fan in Texas or states nearby, I am ecstatic about a quality game in the new stadium with a chance to get tickets. I like the idea because it allows those fans who are far from South Bend to see their team. ND certainly is unique in this regard, and I believe the administration is smart to use the 12th game in this way. The happier the alumni, the more inclined they are to contribute. This is a good way to make alumni in the southwest happy.

Another aspect of the game is that, based on recent performance, AssU (tribute to BDR) is a quality opponent.

These are in season bowl games that are great for the local fans of both schools. They also are great for local hotels, restaurants, etc. who benefit from fans of both schools coming in for the game. I've attended 2 Cotton Bowls and appreciate the hospitality of the Dallas folks. Could be a great time to have a "Prodigy get together."

I'm game... as long as the semiconductor/solar industry is still in the United States. :? It's fun to watch a game with friends, especially when you don't have a dog in the fight!

No doubt there is a swell of discontent on ND boards over just about anything in the schedule except the USC game. These neutral site games are deemed offensive since they aren't in the home territory of the team we are playing.

WSU would be accepted if it were played in the Seahawks stadium, Arizona State would be accepted if it were played in the Univ of Phoenix Stadium.

I'm sort of so what about these neutral site games, I don't get them myself. I can see the Gators/UGA in Jacksonville because it's been done for such a long time, and the Texas/OU game in Dallas for the same reason. I'm sorry we've lost the Iron Bowl in Birmingham, but that's life. The only neutral site games that make sense to me is playing Navy somewhere else besided Annapolis since they have a small stadium, same for Army.

I also don't get Texas A&M vs Texas Tech in Dallas, or FSU vs somebody in the Georgia Dome, or some of the other neutral site games that have been rumoured to take place in Orlando.

But I'll plan on going to the game in Dallas and I'll be at the game in San Antonio as well and be a happy camper because it's a ND game.

All the stuff about recruiting and letting fans get to games in their area are a bunch of hooey to me.

I also think these games won't be the sellouts that some people think they are going to be , at least the ND ones. I doubt if many more WSU fans will come to San Antonio than the 5K that would have come to ND, and inspite of ND having fans all over the country and alumni as well I don't see the local ND being strong enough to take the rest of the tickets for the stadium either in Dallas or San Antonio.

Terry, aren't these going to be televised on NBC? I think you may have posted that if these games are played within the region of our opponents, then their network has the right to carry the games. By playing PAC 10 schools in the Big 12 region, NBC could still have the broadcast.

Yeah that's the reason that we can't play ASU in Phoenix as a home game and have it telecast by NBC. We'd have to give up that right and they aren't going to do it.

Right now though the who dynamic over on NDNation is that there is nothing that we are doing right and that the AD is the devil who is selling us out for the almighty dollar with virtually every move he makes.

    ND/ASu

<r>Sounds great but it is hard for me to get excited about any game in the far future until I see ND start to look like a half-way desent team again. for right now, the only thing I'm looking forward to is a genuine a*s-kicking the Irish should lay on SDSU come Sept 6, 2008. Everything else we can worry about later. This team needs to get out ther and show us the can just slap the snot out of somebody and I really don't care who it is. <E>8)</E></r>
