As Terry has noted, Cierre Wood #3 Player Nationally and the top RB in the nation for the class of 2009 is at the Bend and has made his announcement that he will attend ND next year...What a way to start the day! Hopefully this is the start of a really nice Blue and Gold Game day. A few stats from his junior season...Wood scored 42 touchdowns, rushed for 2,612 yards on 178 carries and caught seven passes for 191 yards. He also played cornerback, recording 50 tackles and three interceptions and led Santa Clara to the CIF-MidValley Division Title. Wood averaged 14.7 yards per carry and 200.9 yards per game. Following the season, Wood was named the CIF Player of the Year and Ventura County Player of the Year. In 2006, he was named the California State Sophomore of the Year. Academically, Wood is carrying a 3.5 GPA and will take the SAT in May or June.
The hell wiith the Irish starting with a Bang...how bout an explosion!!! Tyler Stockton, a 4 Star 6'1", 290 DT from NJ just committed to ND as well!!! 8) 8)
From what I can read on the Internet, Robert Hughes had a great game and seems to be the #1 guy at TB. J. Clausen had a good, not great, game. Supposedly had a lot of drops and some big plays called back for penalties. But no matter what it's always hard to really take away much from the Spring Game. I'm reminded that in the early 90's a Walk-On QB named Steve Belles was something like a 3 time MVP of the Blue/Gold game. Hopefully recruiting will heat up for the Irish wiith the 2 commits that were obtained this weekend. Terry
Terry, Clausen would have had a great day but there were a bunch of great passes that SHOULD have been caught. Great day overall for the Irish though.
According to this internet source Theo Riddick a RB from Joisey is expected to verbal to the Irish in a news conference at his school tomorrow. He's not nearly as highly rated as Cierre Wood, but I've read that he can play DB as well as RB. Courrier News Is this kid from your area George?
About 30 miles northwest of me. Don't know of him firsthand. Look for Carlo Calabrese to fall in sooner or later.
Calabrese <r>George,<br/> The Calabrese kid is interesting. I like all the stuff I've seen and read about him. Sounds like a great catch if CW can land him. We also have a 5 star LB from Hawaii that CW may have a chance to bring in too. <E>8)</E></r>
Manti Te'o that would be a great pickup for the Irish. I don't think we've ever had a mormon player though and it's a long way for him. I read an article on Scout where he said a lot of good things about ND, but I would still be suprised if he didn't stay on the West Coast or no further east than Colorado or BYU.
Theo <r>Great news. Can't believe a week ago I was worried about our recruiting situation.... <E></E></r>
