It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three candidates. Who would you vote for? Candidate A Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologist He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day. Candidate B He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening. Candidate C He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife. Which of these candidates would be our choice?
Candidate C!!! Candidate A is a Clinton Clone and Candidate B is an alcohholic!! Terry ps..shouldn't you have made this a poll?
Terry, Yes, a poll would have been better. George is correct on all three so Terry would have elected Adolph Hitler. A lot of our leaders are elected with only the information that the media provides which is never all the necessary information.
Yet...a very good president was trapped by his political enemies into lying about a BJ. Seems pretty tame by comparison to candidates A and B.
"very good", "trapped into lying"... uh-huh. Whitewater? I'd still take candidates A or B first. As far as Churchill, I can imagine the Harrow sports fans had no objections to their fencing champion using drugs, crying "it's just opium!" and opining that the local constabulary had better things to do with their time.
BDR, Anyone who doesn't think the Lewinsky witchhunt wasn't all about Tripps and traps is trying to be a kidder. I know the public in general (unless you live on a farm in Oklahoma or should live there ) knows what the real objectives of the Republicans were at that time. And you know what....it worked....for eight long years beginning in Jan 2001.
 There is that accountability thing again.....I just KNEW it was somebody elses fault. I think they trapped him by hiding under his desk in the Oval Office refusing to surrender until he gave them a good cigar!
Don't think so at all BDR. Was Clinton trapped into his indiscretion....absolutely not. Was the disclosure of it and the public and legal questioning of it a political witchhunt......absolutely.
MCG, What you fail to take into account is that all WJC ever had to do was admit his mistake. It would have gone away in weeks; his admission would have comepletely disarmed his foes. Instead, in the face of irrefutable evidence, he chose to lie, under oath, like a 13 year old boy to the school principal. It was never about the sex, hell, guys would never blame him for that and most women found that attractive about him as well. It was about his cavalier flaunting of the law, his willingness to expose himself to impeachment and his continued lack of respect for the office he held.
George.....some of that I can see but everyone forgets the real personal side of the story....the man is human and he had a wife and teenaged daughter that would have to endure the public humiliation of his admissions. I am married ( 28 years ) and have three kids myself and therefore....I couldn't imagine the pain of someone forcing me to admit on national television that I had such an indiscretion. To think this would be easily accomplished is not being realistic and especially...most especially knowing that the true reason you had to undergo such pain was because your enemies were just trying to bring you down politically would make anyone defiant.
But you're not a person who has made a career out of elective office, living in the public eye and on their dollar. The accountability is different. Why is it you don't understand that?
I understand the accountability but I also understand the real reason he was put in such an untenable position after his mistake.....and yes he does admit it was a huge mistake. The right side of the board doesn't want to own up to the tactics their henchmen employed to bring this humiliation....they just revel in the results as you guys still do.
Why does this remind me of my 8 year old son? When he does something he's not supposed to, gets caught and gets in trouble, it's my fault and he gets angry at me? What's wrong with this picture????? What part of accountability is so difficult? His actions and his actions alone are responsible for his impeachment and his, his family's and his country's humiliation....
Who's reveling in the "results"? We had all long forgotten about that sorry ass... you're the one who brought it up.
....and and the President of the United States. Chief Executive of the most powerful nation on earth. I often shudder at the thought of Lewinsky being under the influence of a foreign power. The consequences are staggering.....what might he have done to avoid the humiliation? Scary stuff there fellas....so yes, there must be and there is a materially different standard.
'93-2000 - not his doing...he was lucky....GB Sr. set the table....etc.. 2001-2008 - global market forces...WMDs had to be destroyed...really.. not his fault....he's a genious Give me a break.... Not much you guys say holds any water anymore. I'm almost convinced Rush Limbaugh is mostly responsible for Bush getting elected twice.....and that my friends is scary as hell...... Oh...and I forgot to add that gas prices in Michigan today hit an all-time high...but not to worry...soon there will be a Democrat to blame.. 8) And yet...in some magical mystical way this is just fine with most of you... http://money.cnn.com/2008/02/01/news/companies/exxon_earnings/ I just cannot buy this almost 12 billion dollar profit for one quarter and nobody blinks an eye.
